Colorado State University might still allow it. Until earlier this year it was allowed, but I believe the school board voted to ban it. Last I knew the ban was being challenged.

I think Colorado State does allow itu because the Court there said it must. When I was a cop I carried concealed on campus all the time because we were supposed to be armed all the time. I had an idiot professor tell me I could not carry the gun on campus. I basically told him I would remove the sight so It did not hurt so much when I shoved it where his head usually resided.....(only kidding on the comment, but I did tell him that I was authorized to carry and mandated to carry..)

Here in Michigan, there is/was a small group of (pro-carry) students at one of the state funded universities who were trying to get the school to allow them to (I seem to recall, open) carry while on campus. The board of trustees denied their request. Furthermore, there is a MI state law that bans any firearms on college campuses and dorms, i.e. "gun free zones", among other places.

Utah. I beleive all colleges in Utah you are allowed to carry, with their concealed license. I think it may be the only one. Could be wrong thought.

here in texas all schools are "gun free zones" infact one student shortly after the virginia tech incident walked into class with a wob holster empty and was escorted out

shammy out!

Minnesota allows carry on campus for carry permit licensees. The hooker is that the individual state colleges are allowed to have their own internal rules that let them discipline students and employees who carry. So we are in the odd position that while a non student or employee such as myself can carry any where I please on campus the 21 year old former combat vet student or employee with a valid permit risks expulsion or termination if he or she does exactly what he or she is trained and licensed to do any where else. Pretty silly and denies the students and faculty the public safety benefits they could have had for free if bozos didn't run the university.

Dont these restrictions normally just apply to students and staff? Not sure how a campus could police every visitor. I know in VA George Mason actually is included in the CCW laws as a no carry zone.

I am an educator and often go to colleges. I have found every one is different.

Utah. Several great schools. University of Utah is the best Before I went there for 7 years I was dum. After 6 months or so you can establish residency for in state tuition.

The website SCC or Students for Concealed Carry would be a good place to obtain information. Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA Student Republican "Group" is in the process of petitioning the adminstration to stop the ban of students carrying concealed on campus. Norfolk is a city & the university is on the edge of drug ridden, high crime neighborhoods. It is a "commuter community University". There are many, many military students, both active, non-active, & retired that should meet any requirement that the adminstration demands. Tidewater Virginia is a hub for all military branches.

Concealed carry by college students, on campus, is a reallllllly dumb idea!!!

Heck, it's a dumb idea off campus.

Be safe.

I think that concealed carry on campus is fine. Remember, college students, faculty & adminstration are all adults. To be safe, there are times I need to carry.

If there are, indeed, "times (you) need to carry" may I suggest you find something else to do during those times.

Be safe.

Arm the faculty, not the students. The only kids I met that were more reckless than my high school friends were my college friends...My opnion is a CCW should come as part of graduation....if they make it.

Thanks, sip; you said what i tried to say but far more eloquently!!! ;)

The above is an opinion not supported by Constitutional law. College students are adults, and thus responsible for their actions. Adults, as per the second amendment to the Bill of Rights have the right to keep and bear arms.

All of the states like Florida and Michigan that make it illegal to carry here or there are foolish. On the flip side of the coin, most Universities and Colleges explicitly prohibit the possession of weapons by students. It should be clearly noted as to what is illegal and what is against the rules of an institution or business.

We as individuals have the ultimate responsibility for our own safety and security. Become informed, learn the laws, understand the consequences and risks and make your own decision. The opinions of other should mean nothing to an individual making their own choice.

As for Pennsylvania, my home state (Commonwealth actually) it is not illegal to carry on a college campus or in a bar. In fact, it is legal to open carry at both.

College students and Staff should be under the same regulations as the rest of the world. Colleges are just small towns in a way. I dont think everyone should carry, of course I dont think some people should drive either :-)

Places restricting CCW are asking for badguys. If you go through the process and are granted a permit it should be good anywhere.
