I see a beretta in there! Poor poor beretta

Ok, I'm going to be serious for a minute. (really, just a minute.)

Does anyone know of any military issuing glocks? Any field use by anyone but law enforcement?

Just curious. Now back to the regular programing.

Glocks are great guns.
I don't like them, but they are great guns.
Sorry, I just don't want a plastic gun.
Hope that's OK. :)
I don't mind if other people want a plastic gun, but, I don't mind if gun companies advertise, so I may be weird.

I don't mind if people say GLOCK.
It seems kinda strange when someone spells it Gl*ck like it is a forbidden word.

Glocks shoot lots of bullets real good.
Some Glock owners shoot their mouths real good. ;)

When all is said and done, they are serviceable weapons that perform in many niches very well.
When your Glock is all done, you can recycle it and make another very useful product- :p

Me too, It got stolen. I think is was nature teaching me a lesson for buying one in the first place.

Would that make it a Sat. Special ? Sorry I had to ask. My dogs glock on chicken bones . Just kidding all in fun . They are a gun with a history .Everyone has their favorites until they find one they like better .

I just bought a G19 to go with my G17.....I would mention the Sigma but I don't want to make anybody mad.

I once shot a Glock,
it felt like a rock
It was dull and black,
like the rest in the rack

It had no soul,
no rock and roll
It had no feel,
no real appeal

It gave me a 4-inch group
It really shot like poop
Some guy in BDU's said its cool
But really he was just a tool

Part of the mall ninja crowd
one very easily wowed
by kydex and tenifer
playing online games under the name Jennifer

So here I am stuck with this gun
wish I never had bought this one
Now I look like a spectacle
all I talk and hear is "tactical"

Wish I had another gun
I now know of a different one
I have finally learned my lesson
I'm off to buy a Smith & Wesson!

That is good, but I have a friend who takes another approach. He has long since lost interest in shooting his Glocks, but he doesn't dispose of them. Instead, he claims he uses them as thievery deflectors. He has two that he leaves out of the safe (unloaded, of course) where he hopes any thief that breaks into his home will find them, be happy! :D - and leave without bothering his "good guns."

I think the truth is that he very carefully brings them out and places them in appropriate locations when he knows I am coming to visit. The big one is invariably placed somewhere within eyesight of the chair I always use. :D

I have commented that he really should keep them out of sight since they present an obvious eye-sore in his otherwise pleasant home. ;)

He also leaves them with me when he goes on vacation, with the excuse that there is no room in his safe. When he returns, he asks me if I had time to shoot them? :D

I carry daily a 9mm Notaglock, AKA, M&P9. When asked what I carry I respond with the former. If said quickly with a slight fake accent, it makes it sound exotic.

Do a Google image search for "military glocks"...

Several pics of US forces rockin' out with their Glocks out! Generally SF guys. Of course there is the pic of the Swedish Army girls!

Time for another poke at the bear.

I own one glock, a model 20. If S&W would ever make an M&P10 the glock would be gone so fast clocks would run backwards for a few seconds.

I don't get all this negativity about the Glock.

It is not so much about the guns, it is the fanboys constant "yours is ****, mine is perfect" that is the source of the negativity. If glocks are so perfect why was there a need for a gen2 of gen3 or gen4 or....?

Sorry, I want to know about issue. Not shooting. Did any govt. besides Austria, buy and issue glocks?

A few years ago I was looking for a new semi automatic to use as a SD gun. I had a 5906, but it was a bit big and heavy for concealed carry. It was before the M&P came out and before I really understood how good the S&W 3rd gen semis are. IOW, I was ignorant.

I looked at a number of pistols, but settled on a refurbed G23. Nice, light, .40 cal, seemed like the best choice.

I took it to the range soon after I got it. Fired a few rounds and then... nothing. Took it apart, and found a broken trigger spring. Took it back and the dealer fixed it on the spot. It was fine after that, but I never really warmed to it. I sold it a few years ago and bought an M&P9c, which I like a whole lot more.

That is probably going on the market and the proceeds will be used for either another 3rd gen (it's an addiction) or maybe a Shield.

. . . If glocks are so perfect why was there a need for a gen2 of gen3 or gen4 or....?
Oh, don't get me wrong, jdh, Glocks are far from perfect. In my 40 years of shooting many, many different kinds of handguns, I have yet to find a perfect one. Although I love my 19 S&W autos, they are not perfect. Let's not forget the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation S&W autos. ;)

I will admit that the Glock offers a chamber that has less support for the head of the case than many pistols. This is somewhat problematic, especially in the high pressure the .40 S&W chambering. I've been shooting .40 Glocks since 1992, mostly with reloads. However, through the 1990s, I would examine all spend cases collected from my Glock (new factory or reloaded) and disgard any that showed what I considered to be excessive bulging near the head of the case. I always reloaded FMJ bullets under maximum and made sure the case was expanded only enough to start the bullet into the case. It must be held tightly to avoid the bullet being pushed back (even slightly) into the case during chambering. I've never had any problem with my Glock.

For the past 12 years, I continue to shoot my reloads in my .40 Glock, but I only use once-fired brass from my non-Glocks.

I think those interested will find that the kabooms reported occur almost exclusively in .40 Glocks. I've not seen any reports of kabooms in .45 ACP or in 9mm (the round for which the Glock was originally designed).

As an interesting aside, when the Glock was adapted to the .40 S&W, the Glock folks did not properly address how the the extra pressure of the round would effect the ejection process. Later in the mid-1990s, Glock redesigned the extractor and ejector. The ejector was lengthened to begin the ejection process earlier and the bottom corner of the extractor was relieved. This was done because the bottom corner of the .40 extractors were breaking due the extra stress cause by the faster slide speed and late start of the exjection process. Let's face it, the medium frame Glock was not originally designed for the .40 S&W. ;)

I bet a hundred years ago there were old Colt-packing dudes sitting around, looking at the newfangled Smiths with the swing out cylinders, shaking their heads and saying - "These things just ain't got no soul!"
