New M&P 45 owner

Picked it up today, and have been carrying it around on my hip.
First off, OWB... it actually seems to carry easier than a full size 1911.
It is a little bulkier, but with the weight in the slide and ammo... it feels light.
As to weight, loaded... it is similar to my Combat Master
I was actually surprised at the weight.
Feel, yea... for a poly gun it feels amazing.
Hell, I cant even say that. it feels GOOD in my hand. It points the best for me with the medium backstrap.
Trigger... I am a 1911 guy... the trigger sucks.
When I am back to working regularly it WILL be getting action work.

I took it home and hit it with Slipstream Weapons Lube.
Yea... HUGE difference. Still not happy with the trigger, but it is better.
At first I wasnt sure how I would feel about the fish scale slide serrations, yea... grippy as hell. I like em.
This is going to be my primary full size carry pistol.
I cant wait to get to the range with a few hundred rounds of ammo.
I checked all of the poly guns they had at the local shops, and none felt even close to as good as the M&P.
For me, feel and pointability are huge with my shooting ability.
This is why I cant get myself to buy a Glock... no matter how reliable they are.
So yes, I am one of "Those Guys"... or more commonly "You People" now.
I have had the Kel Tec P-11 for over a year... and even tho it is a polymer framed pistol, it is my pocket gun and for some reason I dont count it as owning a poly pistol. I dunno... dont ask me why.
It is also "pretty"... pretty is important to me.
I am just that shallow.
Here it is, just like all the other you have seen.

And with the Combat Master that shared carry duty with my Delta Elite.

Excellent choice! The M&P45 has quickly become my favorite gun. I liked mine so much I traded for another only it was in the FDE frame with black slide. My primary is an exact copy of yours, and I couldn't be happier with mine.

Mine sees rotation as my EDC with my M&P9c with thumb safety just like the .45 has, and I'm completely sold on the M&P platform. My M&P45 is also my primary IDPA gun and in the 8-10 months since I first traded for it I've gotten over 1000 rounds through it and I just shoot it so much better than any of the other .45s I've ever owned...even my 1911.

You done good. I too was one of "those guys" (now meaning 1911 shooters). The M&P trigger benefits a good deal by dry-firing and you get used to it. I love my mid-size M&P45, now my favorite pistol. Sold my 1911s and never looked back. Adios muchachos!

Been wanting a 45c for a while, LGS has a full size, I was looking at this week, I tried it in an iwb holster, was surprise at how well it concealed.

Yea, I dont figure it will be any worse IWB than my Delta Elite.
And unless I needed deep concealment, that was my go to carry pistol.

My trigger got a little better after many many rounds but of all the M&P's I have the .45c had the worst trigger out of the box. Such a nice gun though and yes "pretty" too

Apex sear and striker make a huge difference in the trigger. I traded my 1911 for the M&P45. I will always have a love affair with the 1911 but I just dont shoot them as well as other guns.

I did the same thing. I am a huge fan of Browning and all of his designs but especially his double-barrel shotguns and the 1911. The more I shot mine the more I realized that it wasn't for me and the more I shot my M&Ps the more I realized that they were.

I like my 1911 a lot but for a carry gun on my property the M&P 45c with the apex kit gets the job every time. It packs easy and will get the job done

Ditto on the Browning stuff. If I ever buy another 9 it would probably be a High Power MKIII, I regret selling mine years ago and the prices have gone way up! Unless someone falls and bumps their head and decides to sell me a SIG P210 for $500

First thoughts from the range.
In actual use, the trigger is not nearly as bad as when sitting around the house dry firing it.
Shortest range is 25yards, first time out it was shooting roughly pie plate groups.
That is me, not the pistol.
One of the white dots in the rear sight came out.
I shot it with the "worst" ammo I could find, tula and blazer aluminum case.
Ran like a sewing machine.
I need more magazines.
Also, I could shoot the thing all day.
My son who is used to my revolvers and 1911s checked to be sure the safety wasnt on when he pulled the trigger for the first time.
He isnt used to triggers with take up in them.
I adapted to the trigger pretty fast, I was afraid the long take up and harder to detect reset would be an issue... but it wasnt.

Verdict... color me PLEASED.

Excellent! That ended up being my consensus when I took the big 45 out to play my first time, too. I don't even notice the trigger when I shoot IDPA or bowling pin matches or anything else like that...it is just such a good gun!
