How many of you carry a reload for your J Frames?

I carry a speed strip in a pouch on the left side of my belt, as my 642 is in my left front pocket ('nother southpaw). I figure that I might not be able to fish out a strip if it is in the same pocket as my pocket holster under pressure. Plus, I did some experimenting years ago and found that my pockets can be tough to get to when I am crouched or on my back (where I am afraid I might wind up in a fight). Looser style pants or bigger pockets might make that work differently for other people. On a related note, if you can SAFELY do so, using an EMPTY gun, try accessing it while on your back or face down, it was an eye opener for me.
I shot revolvers for years, so if my J runs out, it gets transferred to my right hand and the cylinder punched open and my left hand STILL reaches for the same place where the dump pouches/speed loaders were back then. Just made sense to leave it there. I have yet to have anyone ask about the speed strip pouch on my belt. Black belt, black pouch.

Never carried any reloads for a J-frame. I sometimes carry a spare cylinder (full, of course) for my NAA Black Widow .22 Mag. I like the idea of the 7-round J-frame in .22 Magnum. I agree with others that 5 shots may not be enough. Maybe Ruger will make an 8-shot LCR in .22 Mag. I could go for that.

Two speed strips in the left front pocket. If I'm using the ankle holster, there's a speed strip in a bianchi dump pouch threaded thru my boot lacings. (I usually only ankle carry as a bug). And yes, all six.

I do if it's my primary ccw when off-duty - speed strips in a pocket. If I'm working, then the j frame IS my backup, so no extra ammo for it....

Always

I usually carry a 640-1 loaded with .357 125gr mags and a 337ti loaded with .38 Hornady Critical Defense ammo. I usually have one Bianchi dump pouch with six .38's right of my belt buckle for single topping off rounds and two Bianchi Speed Strips in my right pocket. I spent a lot of time in my earlier LE days learning to master HKS loaders and Speed Strips. When it comes to ammo, I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Its not much of a burden to carry a few reloads. If I want more ammo on tap I go with a G27 with a G22 mag as a spare.

I carry a 442 loaded with 110 grain Federal Hydroshock hollow points. I've done a trigger job on it with an 11 pound rebound slide spring and am 8 pound main spring. Pachmayr compact grips and a Laserlyte side mount laser sight.
I make custom holsters to help finance my gun hobby. In the summer, I pocket carry and when the weather gets cooler it rides on my belt under an untucked shirttail. I usually carry 2 reloads on 5 shot speed strips either in my left front pocket or in a wet molded leather pouch on my left side. When wearing a jacket I'll sometimes throw an hks speedloader in my pocket. I don't see myself in a fire fight but would like to reload a depleted cylinder after dispatching with a problem and having an extra reload, just in case.
The pachmayr compact grips as they come from the factory do not work well with a speedloader but after a little clearance work with clippers it works great and they fit great with a laserlyte.

No problems with ignition?

Speed Strip

... I must be a little behind times for I didn't know what a speed strip was.
So, I went to GB and found this pic for those of us who don't know:

I carry one reload. But as a Minister I do live a quieter than most life.

When I get night call the J frame stays home and the Sigma 40ve and 1 reload goes with me under my Suit Coat or Jacket. The Sigma give me 29 rounds of 160 grain HP power.

I sometimes carry a speed strip w/ 5 rounds in the same pocket as the gun. I usually have so much other stuff in my pockets that it's the best place I've found for it. If I happen to dump the pocket holster while withdrawing the SS, who cares? I'm left-handed and have practiced the 'Ayoob-Method' of reloading a revolver, so keeping the reload on the same side as the gun is easiest for me.

Skip to around 4:30 for southpaw method.

On duty, I carry two speedstrips with 5 rounds each in a double dump pouch on the back of my duty belt next to my handcuff pouch. Off duty, I usually just stick them in my right rear jeans pocket.

Update: The speedstrips have migrated to my right rear pocket since I ran out of room on my duty belt - two double speedloader pouches (24 rounds of Speer 135 grain Gold Dot .357 Magnum "Short Barrel" ammunition), duty holster, handcuff case, ASP baton carrier, flashlight carrier, OC spray carrier, radio carrier, and key hook. Sometimes I think it's a wonder that I can even walk with all this stuff on.

Coming from a semiauto (Glock 23C that still sees off-duty carry) I was always bothered about the notion of having less rounds available to me. With the Glock, carrying just one extra magazine still nets me 27 rounds. With my model 66, I began carrying two Safariland Comp I speedloaders full of 135 grain Gold Dot short barrel 38 +p's, with a speed strip of 158 grain JSP 357's in my pocket just in case.
