Local newspaper posts permit Holders name and addresses

Mind boggling how the media has fallen. Perhaps we need a list of celebrities n politicians who have armed security or send their kids to guarded schools

Well, the reporter apparently has held a NYC residence permit for a S&W 686 since February of 2011. Wonder why he wasn't included for the sake of honesty. Oh, I'm sorry. Did I just use the word honesty in conjunction with news media? My bad.

Ya know what, I honestly would not care if they posted my name and address of owning a gun. This would be very useful if a criminal broke in my home and I used deadly force.

a: It would be PUBLIC fair warning to criminals.

b: I would sue the newspaper for putting my family in harm way, which led to the death of the intruder.

c: I would use it in my defense, that not only did I have a sign on my door saying owner is armed, Hell it was in the Paper!

A few years back, several papers in Virginia were printing the names of people with carry permits. Since that info was "public record", we had sympathetic elected folks in Richmond add a rider to the carry bill that sealed those applications without a warrent. I do like your idea of outing the press execs and reporters too. What goes around baby...OD.

This was attempted by the attorney general in IL, and it was shot down by the IL Supreme court. The IL State Rifle Assoc. was instrumental in putting the stops to it.

Newspaper publishes Names & Addresses of Gun Owners

I don't post much, but I needed to share this. It's outrageous that this could happen. I live in upstate NY and am concerned about my privacy and that criminals could possibly know where they could go to steal guns, target locations where people do not own anything to protect themselves or go to a location prepared for a confrontation with legal gun owners. I officially feel like a target and a criminal... This country needs better mental health laws not more gun control.

What the local firearms owners should do is pool their resources, get the names and addresses of all of the owners, editors, reporters, and receptionists, and publish that information in a competing newspaper using a full page ad. I'll bet they wouldn't like that one little bit and IMO it's what they deserve.

By the way, I'll bet there are a few exceptions on the list that don't appear. Politicians, actors, socialites & people who work for the media. I'll just bet!

The media is anti 2nd Amendment. Someone said "Don't pick a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel."
This is an attempt to create a "shunning" of those who own firearms. It is part of the plan, so don't think it's a "weird conspiracy theory", because the news readers/talking heads are already saying things like "I won't let my little daughter go over to your house if you have a gun."
The plan is to cast gun owners as freaks, not in general terms, but personally. This is meant to fracture the social structure on the most local level, and alienate the family member within his own home.

The backlash here in NY has been overwhelming, with residents and non-residents of NY pitching in with letters/phone calls/e-mails/etc. My State Sen will introduce a Bill to prohibit the release of such info in the future, as soon as the Legislature reconvenes..

These "people" have their own body guards who are armed. They are hypocrites to the max. Sharon Stone comes to mind first as she was ranting and raving about gun control but failed to mention that her personal body guards are all packing.
