Not losing any sleep over a possible assault weapons ban

“If you love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”
― Samuel Adams

Wow...I'm disappointed. I'm sick & tired of these politicians playing these hypocritical games. For them to ignore all the facts and to point the finger at us and tell us that we don't know what good for ourselves. I wrote to my congressmen. It is my responsibility to stand up and voice my opinion on my rights.

what starts as bannig black rifles and big magazines could evolve to include the classic 357 revolver, whether or not i own a black rifle i stand united with those that do. the second amendment is not up for negotiation. ever. if we dont stand together we could all suffer the long term conseqenences.

This is right! The constitution, the bill of rights is the law of the land and all that protects you from the fed and state. Have we forgot our revolutionary roots or is that not allowed in this forum of red blooded gun toting Americans? Don't be so submissive and foolish to just accept this. The Brits, Aussies and the rest of the world can be as submissive as they want since they are subjects of a neo hierarchical world but never forget that our government is supposed to work for us. And you can't honestly believe it will end with taking our guns because after that it will be your jobs, food, and general well being when they come for this in the name of tragedies and other misfortunes. I also remember taking an oath to protect this and what's funny is that the very foundations of my profession seek to destroy the constitution.

I can tell you from my experience in the war against gun control in Canada is that if you do nothing then the politicians will see it as unspoken consent. If you voice opposition they will at least be forced to determine if they are in danger of losing their district or seat. Only through sustained opposition... no computer generated emails ... but by hand writing letters and seeing them in person you will at least make them revisit the issue. They will revisit not because they believe in the Second Amendment, but because they fear losing their elected post.

I see your point on being cautious, my reaction was based on, and maybe you just misstated it, but it came across as you are not willing to fight it and will simply surrender your guns when/where told. If I took it wrong, my apologies.

It still sounds like the OP has given up and intends to do nothing. He can do something. I too lived in New Jersey. I moved years ago, partly because of firearms registration, i.d. cards etc. He can contribute to the NRA he can write to the governor and urge him to veto legislation! The point is don't to sit back and say you have no voice!

Unless your 357 is a single action only it too is a simiauto. Do you want to chance it that they wont ban it? A threaded barrel. Could be put on it and that would do it, BANNED!!!

I see many replies here from folks that do not even have a NRA emblem posted.

Not necessarily in your case, but I have heard this a lot lately. In some cases, in a very condescending manner.

I would venture to guess, a lot of people who are NRA members, like me dont know how, didnt know about it, or didnt take the time to fool with enabling it.

After about 20 of these and being tired of being browbeat with it, I finally took the 10 seconds to go in and enable it.

Been an NRA member for about 20 years, even though I dont agree with some of their things. I dont think people should make assumptions just based on whether or not they dont have the NRA logo think enabled in their profile.

Happy now?

It's not complicated.

You need to write and call your elected officials just once per week while this goes on.

Plan to do it before or after your weekly bath.

If you can afford to send a few dollars to our lobbyists, please do so.

The attack on the 2a has nothing to do with protecting children or anybody else. It is all about stripping citizens of their ability to resist government authority should they ever need to do so.

If the liberals are so concerned about saving innocents then why aren't they also screaming about alcohol, which levels FAR MORE CARNAGE on our society in terms of death; not to mention collatoral damage in the form of birth defects, broken families and financial strain on our healthcare system.

BTW I do not drink, but do support the right of responsible citizens who choose to do so.
