Draconian New York proposal.

I've looked into renting a 5x5 climate controlled storage space in Pa, to store my evil guns until I find a permanent place to live. Bye bye. NY s###s.

Cosmoline can be your friend. Just ask the Russians!

I just read the bill....?hand guns with detachable mags and one characteristic. How does that ban them all? Means you would need to obey mag limits - no?

Right behind you mike. If this goes thru in NY we are getting out.

Make that three!

More and more I get the feeling like the 10th amendment and the will of the individual states to use it, is either going to save this country or severely change its map!

If the gun is able to accept more than 10 rounds then it is illegal. Since majority of pistols have magazines with more than 10 rounds offered from the factory, then that is why it would be illegal. Glock's come with magazines that have more than 10 rounds so basically all semi-auto handguns would be classified as "assault weapons".

Make that four. I'm waiting for what will happen at the national level. No since of moving unless I know their will be a state with good gun laws.

That is true, with the exception that the 10th can work both ways. Whatever ends up being passed on the federal level might not be as severe as what might be passed on the state level.... So I'd say moving to a state that favors gun ownership is most definitely a good place to start.

That isn't what it says. Fixed magazine with more than 10 round capacity OR detachable mag with one more characteristic. Where are you reading all semi- auto pistols?

Read it again. It says: "(B) SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL, OR ANY SEMI-AUTOMATIC, CENTERFIRE RIFLE WITH A FIXED MAGAZINE, THAT HAS THE CAPACITY TO ACCEPT MORE THAN TEN ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION;"

Am I reading this incorrectly??

Yeah - that's for fixed mags. For semi- auto pistols with detachable mags look at "c"

I did and it seems they worded it on purpose this way. The fixed magazine is for a rifle.

Then why have "c"? I would think fixed magazine applied to both. If so C would be unnecessary. "A" exists for detachable mag rifles as C does for pistols? Maybe?

Ahhh... Welcome to NY firearm laws! Meant to be confusing on purpose! Any semi-automatic would be on the chopping block. I believe they wrote it this way so they could prevent any loopholes.

(5) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.

Thats CA law......would seem ny is trying to imitate .....or fool. I think the intent was to lump fixed mag firearms into one clause. Hrm.......

I have been warning NY gun owners since Cuomo was running for election, he is a heel who was looking for anything since it is well known come 2016 he might throw his hat in for President or Veep and Bloomberg might run for governor. I told my wife last night that as much as I love where we live there is a good chance if this passes we might pack up and move across the Vermont line because I frankly have had enough of what has gone wrong in this state even though I was hoping to live here and retire here in the Adirondacks. Personally I would hope that something like this would make enough people mad to finally get us a decent governor or at least one with a R next to their name but until someone can get past New York City's political influence (this bill comes from a NYC lawmaker) this state will never be what it can be.
