For the skunkwerkz design, I like that it is very simple, but it is multiple parts and bigger. The initial price will be lower though. Because you can't load a full 25 rounds in this one and have to reload the filler tube, but it is faster because of the way it holds the rounds and you use the load assist tabs.

What I would like to see for the skunkwerkz design is essentially the ability to use it in two pieces. The rapid loader portion that would normally be used to fill the loading tube connected to the magazine cap would be part one, and the magazine cap would be part two. I would use some plastic tubes to make a number of ammo holders that could then be used later with the magazine cap without needing the rapid loader portion. Then I'd just fill as many of the tubes as I would expect to need at home, then load (or reload) the magazines at the range with the magazine cap and preloaded tubes. I've attached some pictures of the tubes I'm envisioning, that can hold the full 25 rounds at a time.

So just how long are those 25 round tubes ???

I like the idea of having additional tubes with end caps, that could be pre-filled. Perhaps that could be an option.

I'm not so sure about a 25 round capacity just because of the length but it sure would be nice for the range.

i put two loading tubes together, the tube measures 25 inch's, it works but very cumbersome ,and will have to sell with eye patch's? adds about $5.00 to each kit $3 tube $2 eye patch, law suit priceless!

you could always adapt the adapter to accept a cartridge dump from one of these:

Spee-d-loaders

but then it becomes a balancing act between holding the magazine, sliding the mag follower button down, and holding the alignment of the spee-d-loader to the adapter...

Skunk: I do like the way the design is now, even being two pieces. It is flexible, simple, and could work very well with my idea of extra pre-filled tubes. I didn't realize the tube is removable, so that will be helpful. What is the OD of the tube that goes in the cap?

As far as length, a 25 round tube is 24-3/4" inches long, but 25 is a good round number. I used the Lee's Aquarium 3/8" thinwall rigid tubing and cut it to length. A 36 inch tube is good for a 25 and 10 round tube. The endcaps I used are Hillman vinyl thread protectors that I picked up from Lowe's in a 3-pack for $0.92. The overall length of the tube shouldn't be an issue for transport if you use a gun bag to move around your 15-22. And they shouldn't be too bad to handle in the end cap to do the actual filling of the magzine I think, but we'll see once the loader is available :)

I've seen the Spee-d-loaders before and they are interesting. Most retailers seem to carry the model that holds 15 LR rounds per chamber, although the website has several different capacities listed as well. 8 chambers that hold 15 rounds each would give you kind of an odd number for loading 25 round mags. Maybe alternate 15/10 and have 4 full reloads? Overall, I think it would be a bit more expensive to use that since you can buy a bunch of the tubes to make 25 round spares for less than the cost of the Spee-d-loader.

i have experimented with long tube capacities but i seems to make it cumbersome to use,,but once there available it will be interesting to see what mods will come of it!
