I like a flimsy holster myself for A-IWB carry. Mine is from Ace Case-- adds very little the bulk of the gun, plus they're cheap (under $20).
I tried front-pocket carry without a holster & didn't like it due to the gun flopping around. I stitched up a thin little rough-side-out front-pocket holster for a friend's 442, and tried carrying one of my Chiefs in it. It keeps the gun from moving, and doesn't print too awful bad, but is a bit of a monkey trap. You know what a monkey trap is, don't you? That's where you put a apple or something in a jar-- the monkey reaches in and grabs it but he can't get his hand out without letting it go (which he won't do). Only easy way to get the gun out is with a thumb-and-index-finger grip, which is an awfully awkward way to draw in a self-defense situation. Think I'll stick to IWB.
