concealing a J-frame

OWB/Paddle for when you can conceal in any weather, and in the pocket when that's your only option based on what you're wearing. FWIW, Stoner holsters and Old El Paso make what I opine as very well made and priced holsters for each situation....

I can not wear a iwb just too uncomfortable. I just received a front pocket holster from DM Bullard but have not had it long enough to comment but so far I like it and waiting on a back pocket holster from our member snubbyfan which I think I will like more. You will buy at least 4 holsters before you find one that suits you, thats why there are so many in the classifides!

Whenever i carry owb or iwb at 4oclock there is a feeling that i print , especially when bending forward or when wearing t-shirts.
I picked up one of these at a gun show, Soft Leather Inside the Waistband Holster , now my owb holsters just occupy space in the drawer.
In the 1 oclock position my 442, 60-10 and k frame 13-3 just disapears, even in a t-shirt. I highly recommend this JBP model because it is so thin that it adds almost nothing to the bulge of the revolvers, and for $30 it doesnt break the bank.

I like a flimsy holster myself for A-IWB carry. Mine is from Ace Case-- adds very little the bulk of the gun, plus they're cheap (under $20).
I tried front-pocket carry without a holster & didn't like it due to the gun flopping around. I stitched up a thin little rough-side-out front-pocket holster for a friend's 442, and tried carrying one of my Chiefs in it. It keeps the gun from moving, and doesn't print too awful bad, but is a bit of a monkey trap. You know what a monkey trap is, don't you? That's where you put a apple or something in a jar-- the monkey reaches in and grabs it but he can't get his hand out without letting it go (which he won't do). Only easy way to get the gun out is with a thumb-and-index-finger grip, which is an awfully awkward way to draw in a self-defense situation. Think I'll stick to IWB.

I bought a nice leather shoulder holster for my 60-3 from a member here, and will report on it after arrival. Of course, it will have to be under a jacket, so thinking something else for warmer weather.
The trouble with the model 60 is the weight more than the bulk - at least for me. I tried a Blackhawk #3 pocket and it's okay, but not the best. The paddle options sound good to me.

After finally getting it, my Crossbreed is absolutely fantastic for IWB at 4:00. If anyone has not tried one of the hybrid holsters for IWB, then you are missing out IMO. They are the most comfortable holsters out there.

After experimenting with just about every method I've heard about, I've come up with the way that suites me best...cross draw pancake. The most comfortable and secure way that works for me.

What's your holster of choice? (My model 60 is a bit heavy for suit/dress pants. Not as bad for jeans.)

Interesting, wearing my M60, NY-1 (Spegel boot grips) with "dress" trousers and a sport coat at this very moment. Holster is a Galco CON158; belt is Coach. As an aside, my Remora works , too.

Hope this helps.

Be safe.

+1 on the Duluth Trading Company pants. Try the Fire Hose pants. Big, deep reinforced pockets. They also make overalls with 17 pockets. All the fire hose stuff has a LIFETIME warranty. If you wear them out, Duluth Trading wants to know about it. Send them back and they'll ship you a new pair.

If you're considering carrying a J-Frame in an OWB holster and dressing around it, why wouldn't you carry something like a Glock 27 or a lightweight .45 auto instead? Or even a K frame snub with an extra round? Carrying a J-Frame in an OWB holster and dressing around it seems like defeating the purpose of a J-frame to begin with....

The easy answer likely is preferring J-frames and outside the waistband carry.

There are a lot of right ways to carry a lot of different pieces, and a lot of potential purposes for a J-frame.

Your point's well-taken: why not got for more firepower if deep concealment isn't an issue? But the J-frame might simply be the right piece (size, weight, it isn't a semi-auto -- who knows?) and easier though still concealed access is preferred...
