concealing a J-frame

Great Holster for Concealed Carry

Try the El Paso Saddlery EZ Carry. Conceals well, is comfortable, and has a sweat guard. I have one for my J Frame, as well as a mid size semi-auto, and it works well even with just shorts and a t-shirt.

i carry everything i can carry in a bellyband from a pf9 keltec to a gi 45 to a tokorov an even with a t shirt it dont print its comfortable. ive bought i dont know how many holsters and i keep comin back to the cheep bellyband. sometimes simplier is better for under 20 bucks its worth a try.

I picked up this a few years back. I think it's by Galco, can't remember. It's great for summer wear or when wearing a tucked in shirt. The butt of the gun rides right at the top of the belt line. Just a slightly bloused shirt covers it. It's definitely no speed holster but it's not all that slow either.

I am 5'7" 180. I pocket carry my 642/Crimson Trace laser combo in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. I wear cargo khaki trousers or cargo shorts most of the time...I found it conceals well even in LL Bean khakis. Speed loader in the left. It does conceal in jeans but not as well as with the former. IMHO, pocket carry is the way to go...just practice drawing a lot.

The easy answer likely is preferring J-frames and outside the waistband carry.

There are a lot of right ways to carry a lot of different pieces, and a lot of potential purposes for a J-frame.

Your point's well-taken: why not got for more firepower if deep concealment isn't an issue? But the J-frame might simply be the right piece (size, weight, it isn't a semi-auto -- who knows?) and easier though still concealed access is preferred...
I sometimes carry my J-frame in a Blackhawk Serpa holster of the type that I carry my Glock 27 in. But that's only when I don't have my Glock 27 handy for whatever reason at work. Usually my 49 or 649 is in my pocket in a Mika holster. It's ALWAYS in there when I'm not wearing a sport coat or suit. I don't like to run around with an un-tucked T-shirt or looking like Kurt Cobain (when he was alive). And the 27 isn't all that much heavier than the 49. And I can also use hi-cap mags in the 27. My favorite J-frame attribute is that it fits in a pocket and can be fired from one.

Conceal a J frame

Safariland or Ken Null upside down holster worn under a shirt. Take the second and third buttons and stitch to velcro and the buttons so that the buttons stay in the buttonholes permanently. Then stitch the fuzzy part of velcro to the part of the shirt where the buttons were. Then you can shove you hand inside your shirt and come out it filled. This can be done with any number of shirts for any season just don't do it with light colored of translucent shirts.

Many ways up the mountain. I love Glocks in general but hate the subcompacts. I don't pocket carry any gun. Sport coats and suits are only to be worn when absolutely necessary and I'm an untucked kind of guy because save for dress shirts tucked in is square. ;)

Everyone has their own preferences and thresholds; what matters most is that you know yours and I know mine and that the decisions we make based on them work safely and well.

I picked up a pair of Old Mill jeans at Menards for about $13. Plenty of room in the pocket for my revolver in an Uncle Mikes pocket holster.

Got another idea, I just made and delivered a leather back pocket J frame holster. The extended part faces out and forms a wallet like outline.
It wasn't my idea but it is a viable concealment method.

I use a Dsantis Grip Clip on my 340pd. I wear at 4:00 with my normal size Lee jeans and t shirts, golf shirts untucked. I have carried this way for almost a year. Ride Harley, Atv, snowmobile and haven't had any issues. I am 5'7" and 190#s. It about $25 shipped from Midway USA. Works for me.

I started with an uncle mike #4 and then to a nemesis. They just didn't work for me so, I decided to really pocket carry.

Got me a mika holster and I like it but I still pocket like this when possible.

No matter what pistol I carry I carry it in the same place

When I carry my j frame over other guns its because I'm looking to save weight and bulk on certain days

deep pocket jeans

You should try a new American made jean, which has lots of comfort and very deep pockets. The name is Deep Pocket Jean Company. Their web-site will pop up with a google search of the name. Their Autry model has 14" pockets that will fit just about anything.

I'm having a tough time concealing a J-Frame, 637 to be exact. Granted I'm newer at carrying, but I seem to have a lot less problem with my 3953. I'm 5'10" 170lbs and have a 33" waist. I have tried both a galco summer comfort and a similar clip holster from a local maker. On both they tend to print and seem to dig into my back at the cylinder wearing at 4 o'clock. I can't bump it up to 3 o'clock or it is very noticeable.

On an unrelated note, I'm used to wearing my jeans just at the top of my hip bones, top of pants even with top of hip bone. At that height the gun moves too much for my liking, the gun rides nice when the bottom of my belt is just above the hip bone. In this configuration my Levis tend to be a bit too snug and need something that rides higher. Anyone know of a brand of jean that has a bit more "top to bottom" room?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I carry my J frames in a Theis® Hybrid, or DeSantis® Cozy Partner® IWB. Both hold the gun very securely and don't print. My BUG(s), also J frames, are carried inside my pants or jacket pocket in an Uncle Mike's® #3 pocket holster; and in a Galco® Ankle Glove. These four holsters work very well for me carrying a brace of J frames daily.

I have no problem concealing a pair of J frames - 37 on the right, 442 on the left - both in Hume JIT slides behind the hip bones. I much prefer that to pocket carry and they are not noticeable under a tee shirt.

Pocket carry w/a good pocket holster.

What OC said. Levi pockets can be a problem, since they're typically not as big as cargo pants or regular slacks, but thin as you are, that might not be an issue.
