Warning stickers - Yes or No?

No warnings, no stickers, no free advertising, no foolin'! Surprise and shock on the face of a dooshnozzle who just got a mug full of #6 shot is best savored offensively.

My friend put a sign in his front window a few years back that said "Guitar sales and lessons". Two weeks later someone broke into his house and cleaned out his entire guitar collection.

The only lesson provided was to to him!

God gave everyone common sense. Just some aren't smart enough to use it.

I thought about one of the "we don't call 911" signs with a picture of a gun on it and decided it was a bad idea. Not even sure about an alarm company sign; does it tell them to go away or just that they need to bypass the alarm first?

I agree on the gun and similar warnings and NRA stickers. And on good locks.

Our family was in the burglar alarm business for 53 years and my thought on an alarm sticker/sign is that the sticker/sign in and of itself is 90% of the protection, unless people work from the inside.

"No trespassing" signs, a big fence with padlocked gates, a "work dogs - do not enter" sign, an unwelcoming demeanor, and maybe a really big pile of used dog food indicating to the observant the size of at least of the resident dogs. Nothing that would tip off others that you are armed, or would use force, etc.

No advertising. I was mad the other day when an eBay purchase, a rather large heavy box, arrived and the dimwit seller had "gun parts" handwritten in big bold script on the mailing label. Now the somewhat shady mail carrier knows more than I want him knowing about me (not to mention that's just begging for the box, or any future ones, to end up "lost" in the mail system).

I think it's a really, really, really bad idea. It just advertises you own firearms to burglars, and an uppity prosecutor will take you to count if you ever have to defend yourself and show that picture to the jury.

A couple of miles down the road, a guy has a huge yellow sign in his yard that reads "TRESPASSERS WILL BE SHOT"!

It's a professional made sign. You can't miss it from the road. :D

alarms are quite reasonable these days...why not dispense with the false ADT signs and simply get the real thing?

Nope!...No stickers or signs. My primary warning system is my two ninety pound dogs barking and my car in the driveway. I'm retired and don't go out much. I also live in a neighborhood where a good number of Navy SEALs live. Burglars are not much of a problem around here.

I always liked the sign that says "If you are found here at night, you will be found here in the morning". Or "trespassers will be shot, survivors will be shot again". ;)

Depends on where you live. If you're unfortunate enough to live somewhere like where I do right now, it's probably best to be as inconspicuous as possible. Where I'm from, though, it would not be the least bit uncommon! :D

My next door neighbor has a "Beware of Attack Neighbor" sign posted on the fence that divides our yards. He put it up as a joke but the rest of da 'hood knows exactly who he is referring to. (The sign is a joke that he bought on vacation last year and that is the only sign in the area.)

Any bad guy up to no good in our neighborhood runs the risk of being caught in the crossfire that will result after the first shot is heard by my other likeminded neighbors.

On American Pickers, a guy had a sign on his property.

WE DON'T CALL 911

Myself, no stickers anywhere.

My son put a "Got Sig" sticker on his truck about a year ago. I told him it was his choice to stick it or not, but it has never sat well with me. As much as I hate to say it, when I use his truck I feel as if I am giving the bad guys a heads up.

Just add "arettes" to the end and no-one will be the wiser. ;)

No offense but having a sticker that says "Have gun will shoot" isn't real classy and kind of stupid in my opinion.

I'm thinking of posting a 'Beware of LARGE DOG' sign in the front yard then getting some elephant droppings from the zoo to place here and there...

THAT will make them wonder!!! :D
