From her website, I guess the nuts and bolts will be released tomorrow. Doesn't a semi-auto handgun by definition have a pistol grip?

Following is a summary of the 2013 legislation:

  • Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:
    • 120 specifically-named firearms;
    • Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one or more military characteristics; and
    • Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds.
  • Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:
    • Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test;
    • Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test; and
    • Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans.
  • Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
  • Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
    • Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment;
    • Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes; and
    • Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons.
  • Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
    • Background check of owner and any transferee;
    • Type and serial number of the firearm;
    • Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
    • Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
    • Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration.
 
Guys, Feinstein knows that what she wants will not pass. She is prepared to accept something lesser as a "compromise" to get an AWB on the books. She will then introduce another bill that will get more of what she wants. This is called politics. She gives a little, we give a little. At a later time she gives a little we give a little. In the end she gets a total ban on firearms and we get a dictatorial government. Remember she is in the nobility and we are the serfs. We are here to serve the government officials and they are here to rule.
 
Isn't this the same Dianne Feinstein that said the 223 was one of the most powerful cartridges on earth? Boy are we in trouble.
 
The sad part is that this does absolutely nothing to help stop mass murders committed by mentally unstable people.
Say they did away with all rifles. Then when a mass murderer uses a semi-auto handgun and so-on and so-on... !!

Let's be clear, there is a reason that most terrorist attacks are not with a gun; they use explosives because they are far more effective. People tend to run and take cover when somebody starts shooting; explosives are too fast.

Get rid of guns and the crazy people start making things in their kitchen that are far worse than them just using a gun.

Crazy is crazy.
 
All gun owners a cross America should make it a life's goal to help defeat this old wind bag ,she is a disgrace to our country . She should have been voted out a long long long time ago. We should donate all that we can afford to anyone who runs against her.
 
Um, where are they going to get the funding for new ATF agents, clerks, etc to process all that NFA paperwork on grandfathered guns. My understanding is they already have quite the backlog.

Oh, and the long gun registry in Canada worked so well...:rolleyes:

It will go nowhere.

The only thing that will pass as new "gun control" is whatever BHO can sign away.

It's political suicide for southern & western Democrats, they'll give it lip service and then let the Prez do the heavy lifting.

You know im only going to say this once.....Before you all go spoutin off about this aint gonna happen or thats not gonna pass....do you really want those eggs in that basket???? I can remember back a couple presidents ago....where people said the same thing......And I am pretty sure most of you will remember what you could not do from '94-'04...NUFF SAID. If this post chaps yer hide so be it, maybe it will get ya thinkin!

Can you or someone elaborate more on the Canada gun registration? I take it that it was a non compliance issue?

I agree justcruise. This is not a time to be complacent or think nothing will happen. It has before and even if her AWB does not pass or even get voted on dont think they will just give up there

Not a compliance issue- They spent millions of dollars and could find no actual effect on crime rates.
