This is how certain Colorado legislators think you should be able to defend yourselves. Why a gun for Self Defense?

Colorado Legislator on guns: Defend yourself with ballpoint pens - YouTube

I mean, why are we spending so much money on weapons for the military! I can get a pack of Bic's from the dollar store!!

I'd like to invite the good Senator to show to a gun fight with a Ballpoint Pen. LOL

(Sorry if this has already been posted, I ran a search and didn't come across anything!)

I know of one suicide who stabbed himself in the temple with a ballpoint. Looked like a Parker T-Ball Jotter in the photo.

I think some courts don't allow pens now for jurors, etc. Not sure about airlines. We just had a case in Dallas where an escaping felony prisoner from Miami broke off an earpiece of his eyeglasses, sharpened it, and stabbed an escorting deputy. The officer was in serious condition for several days. Police shot the man dead about a week later when he threatened them with a branch from a tree. It was all over the news.

I carry a ballpoint, but don't plan to use it for defense except in dire extremis in lieu of any other weapon. This legislator is an idiot.

Charging an armed man with a pen as your weapon is an act of extreme desperation. You'd probably never reach your foe.

The Thuggee cult in India was very skilled at strangling people with silk scarves. That doesn't make a scarf an ideal weapon for charging a gunman, either. OSS agents were taught to kill people with a rolled newspaper. I presume this persisted for CIA agents. But it wasn't intended as a long range defense measure, more for murder or contact range avoidance of arrest in enemy countries.

You have to see/hear some of these anti-gun people utter such suggestions in public to believe they do such things. It just defies rational belief!

Having seen responses to this stuff ranging from "Guns aren't defensive weapons" to "Use a double barreled shotgun for EVERYTHING!" to "Ballpoint pens, the super weapon" I am really starting to wonder if the antis give a mic to anyone who wants to say ANYTHING about guns being bad.

It'd be hilarious if they weren't actively campaigning to kill freedom in America.

The posters above note there are alternative means of personal defense. All "attacks" are not life threatening and thus do not warrant use of deadly force...in my opinion.

Who, in fact, hasn't been in a situation without a gun and ponderered "what ifs?" I sure have...and do so every time I am on an airplane.

Yes, I have absolutely considered what I would do, personally, if aboard a commercial aircraft and a person(s) charges the cockpit door. Ditto when in other places where unarmed.

Be safe.

Has there been one time multiple lawful concealed carry shooters endangered others by shooting simultaneously at a criminal?

Does anyone have an example of a tactical model ballpoint pen, mine look sort of lacking. i am able to click my bic, but it still looks pretty lame.

Does anyone have an example of a tactical model ballpoint pen,

UZI makes a very nice tactical gun metal grey ball point.

Smith & Wesson even makes one with a fire starter.

Personally I'd use a pencil.
Then the miscreant would get scared he'd die of lead poisoning after he got stuck.

Well, I have a niece who owns a pen capable of chambering a .38 special. Somehow, I don't think the lawmaker was referring to that.

In Great Britain if you used a ballpoint pen to defend yourself you would likely face criminal charges. The USA just hasn't gotten that far yet.

Someone mentioned Joe Biden's advice to shoot a double barreled shotgun into the air to "scare off" potential robbers. First, most places that is illegal and if Joe does it I hope he uses fine shot and not buckshot or slugs.

We will have to retool the old saying to "Never bring a ballpoint pen to a gunfight."

DON'T LAUGH.

I was in SE Asia and a guy came in a shop to pick up his drycleaning.

Didn't like the spot on his shirt and stabbed the shop owner in the heart with his BIC pen.
Died on the spot.

True story, I was there. Didn't seem prudent to shoot him.

I belong to a knife forum and go there every now and again. There's an ongoing thread where guys post pics of their "EDC" stuff.

It's amazing how many of them carry those "Tactical Pens" like Straightshooter2 posted pics of, alongside some huge locking knife with a blade so thick it's almost useless for most any task you'd use a knife for outside mortal combat!
