Found this on consignment over the weekend. Early 5-screw. s/n S1062XX. Grips numbered to the gun. Slightest hint of a turn line on it. So close to unfired my kids don't want me to shoot it. They do not get a vote.

thats amazing you are one lucky guy![]()
Rough around the edges?! It looks like new to me! Now this is rough around the edges:
N429XX and I paid the same as you did!! Around here your gun would have been $750 at a minimum! Good score.

These are both great revolvers. They are far more interesting than the ones that look like new and like every other new-looking HP.
I have an "interesting" one, too. An S prefix -2 version. The edges of the front sight are so rounded from holster wear that I can't see it very well so I don't enjoy shooting it anymore. It's a shame because the action is sooooo smooooth. These are both great revolvers. They are far more interesting than the ones that look like new and like every other new-looking HP.
Here is the best I can do with the camera I have. It doesn't look so bad in the pic, but I really can't get a good sight picture with it this way. I have my, probably destructive, idea about how to fix it-file or mill the top of the blade flat again and lower the rear blade by a similar amount, if necessary. I won't do it, though, as I don't trust myself to get it perfect by hand and I don't have a milling machine.Do you have any pictures, t-ware? The sight thing might be corrected by using a little bit of sight paint......lots of suggestions here on the forum of a good, removeable way to doing that.
What are the markings on the frame where the barrel attaches? Two more pics. It´s a good and solid shooter.
The HP really rules!
