Walked into a Bass Pro Shop Sunday morning kind of early to find .22lr ammo for sale in 50 round boxes. American Eagle high velocity 40 grain I think. Wasn't much there, so I only grabbed five boxes of the thirty or so boxes to leave some for others. I was immediately shown a small sign stating a person could only buy two boxes a day per person of the same type. The guy was courteous and said he just wanted to save me the problem when I tried to pay for them. Put three back and bought my two boxes.
The wife was with me, so I sent her inside to buy two boxes. She took the label off one of my boxes. Said there were about fifteen guys standing there just talking and looking, so she politely asked them to excuse her and bought the last two boxes. She said they had put out more of a different grain, but I was happy. Ended up with four boxes of .22lr high velocity 40 grain for just $2.39 a box plus tax. Bought some .357 158 grain target loads, too. They naturally cost a good bit more.
Makes me think they are putting ammo out just here and there. Sent the wife back this morning, or the next morning, and the shelves were almost dry with NO .22lr ammo. Maybe a lot of folk are selling them a bit at a time? Thank you Bass Pro for the kind gesture and fair price: $2.39
per fifty rounds comes to $0.0478 per round plus sales tax. Thank you Bass Pro!!!!
