They sell the 22's before they even get stocked.

My boy and I wanted to burn up some tin cans at the range but I was out of target 22's. It took three weeks to sweet talk the sports counter girl at walmart to save a couple boxes of 22LR's. Little did she know the manager would sell them prior to them being stocked and before she could secure a couple for me. The lesson learned here is to make friends with the ugly old manager and not the pretty girl at the sports counter. It explains why there is never any ammo on the shelf even after the truck comes in.

I did finally find some Federal Automatch 22LR but it is for selling not shooting.

Got a question for gunboat users. If I'm on the 22lr page will it beep if another caliber falls in my price range?

I have two tabs open on my computer...1 for 22lr and 1 for 9mm. That way I hear the beep if either one hits my range.

charge your card and whatever? no thks

They said ETA would be a month from now. If you are worried about a future charge past that period, then use a Temporary credit card with expire date of, say, 5/2013. so far only Bank America has this, called ShopSafe. if you do a lot of online shopping and worried about it, its worth getting a BofA card for this purpose.

thanks so much RT-TEXAS, this is perfect (I'm a prepper) - the 100 for bug-out bags and the 333 in each car

Walked into a Bass Pro Shop Sunday morning kind of early to find .22lr ammo for sale in 50 round boxes. American Eagle high velocity 40 grain I think. Wasn't much there, so I only grabbed five boxes of the thirty or so boxes to leave some for others. I was immediately shown a small sign stating a person could only buy two boxes a day per person of the same type. The guy was courteous and said he just wanted to save me the problem when I tried to pay for them. Put three back and bought my two boxes.

The wife was with me, so I sent her inside to buy two boxes. She took the label off one of my boxes. Said there were about fifteen guys standing there just talking and looking, so she politely asked them to excuse her and bought the last two boxes. She said they had put out more of a different grain, but I was happy. Ended up with four boxes of .22lr high velocity 40 grain for just $2.39 a box plus tax. Bought some .357 158 grain target loads, too. They naturally cost a good bit more.

Makes me think they are putting ammo out just here and there. Sent the wife back this morning, or the next morning, and the shelves were almost dry with NO .22lr ammo. Maybe a lot of folk are selling them a bit at a time? Thank you Bass Pro for the kind gesture and fair price: $2.39
per fifty rounds comes to $0.0478 per round plus sales tax. Thank you Bass Pro!!!!

Is it my imagination or is the shortage getting worse rather than better ?
