Looks like my job search will force me to move from sunny SWFL back to the Boston area. This of course causes trouble regarding my 15-22 its current configuration makes it illegal in Mass. So best course of action is to sell it? Would love to keep it but the law is the law. Any recommendations?

Don't understand your problem. Just get 10-round magazines [which are available at regular price now].

You can pin the stock so that's not an issue, but if you have a flash suppressor on your 15-22 then that's a different matter since MA has restrictions on what's legal.
You could see about changing the FS out for a muzzle break and have it tacked. It's not enough to swap them out, the MB would have to be permanently attached.
I think you'd be OK if you do those two things, but as always, verify the info just to be sure.

That bites like a vampire... just sucks all the happy out of you. Given that you will be having to move to mass., you would be wise to carefully acquaint yourself with what their twisted law requires and then do what you have to do to avoid giving them a brick to throw at you. If the FH is a problem, you would possibly be able to find someone who would like to trade a plain barrel 15-22 for your rifle. If condition was about equal, it'd be a win/win for you both.

What if you filled in the holes in the FH with JB Weld. Would that de-activate the Flash Hider? We all know that there is a lot of flash to .22 LR and understand why it must not be suppressed.

What an idiotic state.

I wouldn't want to bet my money, freedom and firearms on that.

Flash Hiders aren't legal here, either, along with every military-style centerfire rifle in and out of production. We got the shaft of 04 April 2013!

break it down into parts, then when you move out of there someday ,thow it back together and you'll have alike new 15-22.

Won't fly in Massachusetts or Connecticut. Makes no difference whether it's assembled or not ... A collection of parts to make a firearm IS a firearm.

You might be able to grind the threads smooth and pin the stock. Then with a 10rd mag you would be legal. A gunsmith could easily handle it in Fl. Another option might be to order a non-threaded replacement barrel and swap barrels plus pin the stock and you're good to go. Then either hang on to the threaded barrel or sell it to a gun shop before leaving florida.

Is the threaded barrel or the flash hider illegal? If its the flash hider just remove it. Pin the stock is easy, and buy 10 round mags.

I am pretty sure a bare threaded barrel is illegal. I don't know if muzzle brakes are legal, though.

I believe you can get around the threaded barrel by welding/soldering the muzzle brake on. Just like you're OK if you permanently pin an adjustable stock.
I'm trying to find some proof to support this, but it's taking longer than I thought.

Edit: I found something on Windham Weaponry's site. They talk about how they permanently put brakes on complaint rifles instead of flash hiders.

The best thing the OP can do is contact the Massachusetts State Police and get the correct information. All we are doing here is guessing.

You could try going through this forum. It is a New England based forum. It has sections for people to discuss and learn gun laws for all of the New England states. Lots of good information and some pretty knowledgeable folks. You can probably find your answers by browsing or just post your specific questions and people will answer. Pretty heavily used forum so I am sure you would get results. or you could move slightly north to the "Free" state i live in and not worry ;)

Massachusetts Laws

Thanks for the link to the forum. Unfortunately my 15-22 has a threaded barrel, flash hider, unpinned stock, "high capacity" mags, the works. Combine that with living in Boston and looks like she'll have to go up for sale :(

Sad day. Got 2 weeks to shoot as much ammo as I can

All of the suggestions posted fall into the " Slave... bow down before your master" category.

Just keep the damn thing as it is and find a private place to shoot it. There are large, 200 acre areas of privately owned land that one can shoot an AK weapon for as long as your ammo will hold out.

You cannot let Communist legislators decide for you what is right.
