Would you shoot this coyote?

This is not a dig at anyone but i couldnt do it. I couldnt just shoot a coyote. Just because i see it. When i look at one i see my dog! :(

Uhhh...the coyote is not your friend

Then you are looking with blurred vision and confusion. The coyote(s) will kill and devour your dog only to later defecate your dog on your property.

Arik, that's exactly what I would see if I spot a coyote, our dog & cat.......alive,
and that's the way I want to keep them, our dog & cat......alive. ;) :)

Coyotes are opportunists and learn fast. We used to walk the desert and shoot jackrabbits with our deer rifles before hunting season, as a tune-up. The coyotes often followed behind us a ways to lunch on the jackrabbits we shot. Some didn't keep far enough back...

I generally don't shoot jackrabbits any more but won't pass up a safe, legal shot on a coyote. They have no predators in most places to keep their populations in check. They are now in every state in the Union but Hawaii.

I nailed a big one last year at work with a Crown Vic. He zigged when he should have zagged and ran right under a front wheel. It didn't damage the car, so no regrets.

Mitch, when I lived in South Dakota we shot a few coyotes. You'd often find them slinking along a wind row where we had been shooting doves the evening before looking for the carcasses of cleaned birds or those that the dogs didn't find. I wish I was going back with you....

Pack your bags and we will make room. Would enjoy meeting you, season opens on October 20 and we always get there a couple days earlier to sip some clear corn squeezings and visit with the friends we have made over the years. Very good people out there. I will wait to hear from you, the little town is called Wessington Springs, SD, about an hour NW of Mitchell. We will harvest a few of those coyotes.

I'd love to go on a yote hunt. Wish I could find one in the California foothills. I'd travel for the right opportunity.

vultures got to eat just like the worms. pop a cap, throw a genade, or what ever it takes. Do something before they get added to the endangered list. watched one in catalooche grab a turkey the other day while it followed an elk around the woods edge. If I had shot that one the fbi would have beat me home to arrest me. Doeboy

Here the neighbors lose more dogs than cats. Cats tend to be more careful and of course use a litter box inside.
If you let a small or medium sized dog out in the morning or evening because it has to take a leak, it very well might disappear. The Coyotes know your dog's habits better than he does. Don't think standing on the porch while your dog goes about its business will do the job either.
One our neighbors about a ½ mile away was walking a small dog down the center of the paved road, a coyote ran out from the bushes on one side grabbed the dog as it crossed and disappeared into the bushes on the other side, all about 10 feet in front of her face.

I take the cats out for rat hunting walks; I am the armed watchman for these expeditions.

We have both bobcats and coyotes, I sort of enjoy the bobs but I would shoot a coyote without even a moment's hesitation.

I want to hunt yotes with my 1907 Carl Gustav M96 6,5mm swedish mauser with its 29" barrel. For she hates yotes.

I have one safe full of swede mausers and I also have a stash of the swede 6,5mm surplus ammo too.

The yotes look more like wolves size wise lately. They got three of my cats so far. I have three feral cats that are very aware the yotes want to eat them. I let there claws grow longer so they can climb much faster. In doing this I haven't lost anymore cats now.

Terminated............with extreme prejudice.

One little coyote now can be responsible for eating some big deer later. His lack of education and wariness only proves that he has not been shot at before. I would have attempted to provide some schooling for him.

Dead,dead,dead!

Shoot it. If you love your cat. The got a 17lb Tomcat of my neighbor's and they will get your cat too if you continue to let them come around unmolested.

They adapt to humans and civilization very readily.

As the other guys said, "Choot'em...Liz"

I'd shoot it AFTER it got the cat. It would save me a bullet.
