This drought is making the animals crazy. I woke up at 3am thinking my toddler son was coming from his room to mine...have to pass through the whole house to do so. I got up to meet him. Walking through the kitchen in the pitch dark, I noticed something amiss. I glanced to the right and was surprised to see the head of a black bear INSIDE my window, trying to get into the kitchen.
I ran over there, grabbed the closest item ( a metal colander [food strainer]) and proceeded to crack him on top of the head. He retreated. Call is in to Game and Fish, again..they already took a 150# and a 300# bear off of my property this week that had been breaking into area homes!
Later I was putting away the dishes that had finished drying on the counter. I picked up a saucepan and curled up underneath was a 2' bull snake! I picked her up and released her out back.
The drought here is wreaking havoc with the critters.
