M&P 15-22 Picture Thread

Very nice weapons and the Military vehicle as well! You should try making a video of you shooting and explaining your weapon and upgrades so we can learn why you choose those upgrades on your weapon.

Currently waiting for my recent corneal graft to heal before I can get back to shooting again, but my last trip to the outdoor range was a lovely summer evening outing for the 15-22, now sporting a Kineti-Tech barrel shroud and the Eotech G33 magnifier (which only took 8 months to get through to the UK from time of ordering!):

On the bench (with my 9mm carbine):

Now, another bonus was the opportunity to drive a fellow club member's Rolls Royce. which he'd brought to the range.

...

A 6.5 litre multi-fuel Rolls Royce, powering a 16-tonne, 1960's vintage FV432 mk2 battle taxi

Note to US readers - this is *not* an M113 derivative, but the British Army FV432 armoured troop carrier; this one was in service as an 81mm mortar carrier before being retired. Fully legal on UK roads, albeit at a 20mph limit (much more fun to roar up and down the disused runway of the old WWII bomber airfield that our outdoor range is situated on :D )

Nice pics, but one hint for some of you folks.

Cheek to stock, nose to charging handle.

Same sight picture every time...

I wear a pair of batting gloves when I shoot.

I understand batting gloves as that gives you traction on a slippery surface... the bat.

OK, I understand some folks wear gloves to shoot when it is not cold... but why? You obviously loose tactile stimulation, so that can't be good. I can't imagine my finger ever slipping off of the trigger. Yet I see special forces and some here wearing them & just curious why? What do you gain for the loss of feel?

I have been shooting with gloves for longer than I remember. Sometimes a golfing glove with magnum revolvers to soften the recoil against the palm of my hand. It also absorbs sweat on a hot day. I still do that, sometimes with my 177/22. I am unaware of any lost of tactile anything.

I wear the batting gloves with my 15-22 and Mini14 because it is more comfortable. It's that simple.

When you snuggle with the wife tonight, do so wearing your batting gloves. Report back if you had a loss of tactile anything.

I hope you have your catcher's mask to go with your batting gloves. :D

Just personal preference & comfort to shoot with the gloves. They're not particularly cold-weather wear; mine have cut off index finger & thumbs so no loss of tactile feeling for trigger duty. :)

Along with the 15-22, I was shooting my 9mm carbine, .357 Winchester, .308 Ruger (as well as driving the APC!) that evening, so I think the gloves were not unreasonable range wear ;)

Hey, I'm not putting anyone down and certainly don't want to be a judge of what is reasonable. If anyone wants to shoot in a pink tutu... that is just fine with me.

I just don't see what the gloves do. I think of golf. One uses a glove when using the big muscle groups but when needing fine control (putting) the glove comes off. Seems to me shooting certainly demands fine motor skills and sensitivity to pressure and because of that I wouldn't shoot with a glove. Never mind me. I'll go back to my cave. :)

Hey Jim, no caves required here - nothing taken the wrong way (hence liberal use of smilies!). I enjoy this forum as a friendly place for everyone to celebrate their enjoyment of shooting, and the freedom to do it in the way that suits them best :) Speaking as a UK shooter and given what 'freedoms' we've lost with regard to shooting this side of the pond already, I think this is especially important! :o

Thanks for your interest in my kit, and I certainly don't take it the wrong way in your asking how other folks like to shoot :).

My gloves give a bit more grip in the palm (whilst keeping finger & thumb tips free) and make it more comfortable to shoot for me :)

Like so many things that you question, Jim, it doesn't matter whether you see the need or purpose of gloves or not. That others do is all that matters. :)

God made some folks smarter than others. What He left out in brains for me, He made up for in stubbornness. If I don't understand something... I ask. If I still don't understand... I ask again & again. I know it can come across as rude but I have much to learn when it comes to AR type rifles. I served in the Air Force as a missile launch officer but all they gave us to shoot was a dinky .38 revolver.

You can not imagine how much I have learned here. Most times by reading but some times by asking. You, my friend, have be a huge help.

Just so you remember who the teacher is!!! :D

That reminds me of shooting my Repo Sharps 45-70 for the first few times. The base of the rear vernier tang sight would cut the webbing between your thumb and index finger after every shot. Good reason to wear gloves and make it a habit. I still never wear gloves, I just learned not to wrap my thumb around the stock of that particular rifle.
On another note, I met a guy at the range who would put masking tape around certain fingers and areas of his hand. I asked him once why he did that, but I cannot remember the answer.
