I have a suggestion to fight profiteers!

Boys, this issue is starting to remind me of the old TV program from the 1950's. It was called Queen for a day. These women would get up and tell a sad tale and the Applause a meter would decide who got the new washing machine. Supply vs. Demand has ALWAYS been the determining factor called cost. Gold, guns, ammo, etc. has been discussed here. I am in good shape in most of those areas. I load/give factory ammo to my children if they need it. I do not feel badly about those that choose to buy something else if they choose. Profit has always been the driving factor of commerce. I don't care what the commodity is.

I bought a Sig M4 (or some such right before Christmas at Academy) because they had one for sale. I paid $1000.00 for it, roughly. I sold it on January 8 at the LGS for $2500. Never took it out of the box. It lasted less than one hour. I paid the owner $250 for selling it for me. I don't know the gent that bought it. I have no idea how long he has been a shooter or hasn't been a shooter? I don't know if he has any ammo to shoot in it? It is none of my business. I had something, someone else wanted it very badly, he was happy, I made /$1250 on a $1000 investment and turned it into a Colt Shooting Master I (yes me) wanted. If I did something wrong in your eyes I suggest you look at it from a different angle. I have no idea what you think a Colt Shooting Master is worth, nor do I care.

Even a squirrel puts away for the lean times. I would like to see the retirement portfolio of some of these folks crying foul. Believe me, there ain't gonna be no one around to help ya outta that mess either. Glad I didn't wait till I was 60 to start planning for that deal.

My buddy has 60,000 rounds of 22lr he has been accumulating for years. No joke. He gives me 1000-2000 rounds every once in awhile in exchange for 100 rounds of my 45 ACP. Since I have over 2,000 rounds of 45 ACP I figure I wont be running out of either ammo anytime soon.
 
No offense, but when I hear certain terms, it reminds me of certain government types who want to control everything. Profiteer is one such, as is the oft-repeated phrase "reasonable regulation" for gun control. How much profit is ok and how to control it is all in the opinion of each individual. That is like "reasonable regulation."

In my mind, reasonable CCW seems more like Vermont, where anyone who is not disqualified from gun ownership can carry concealed anywhere without asking permission from some government bureaucrat or anti-gun police chief. If you get stopped by the police, the officer runs you like he would anyway on a traffic stop. If you do not have a felony or are otherwise on a disqualified list, then you are released, no questions asked.

Others think law abiding citizens ought to have to jump through hoops to carry concealed. Others think that the use of guns for defense is wrong. Others think that use of guns for any purpose is wrong.

Same thing with profit. Some think free market should control, some think you are immoral if you make profit, some think we should just be handed anything we want or need. I say if you think the market situation is out of control, then don't feed it by buying at these insane prices. If everyone stopped buying for just 30 days - everyone - supply would increase, and prices would come down.

As far as active participation in the shooting sports being synonymous with ammo philanthropy, I'm not buying it. No more than I should feel obligated to arm those who can't find the guns of their choice based on current supply problems.

I have to agree that CTD is a weird site. They have great prices and then, all of a sudden, outrageous prices even though their cost per box should stay the same from the manufacturer. Are they being gouged and then passing the gouging on to us???

A while back I scored 2 bulk boxes of 22LR. One for me and one for my son-in-law. He needs to be at work, I have the time to cruise the stores.

The good news is I have found a few boxes of 38 special, a little pricey, but I am going to practice with my new gun and keep at least 20 rounds for self defense. My savage rifle will have to wait for practice ammo, not paying ridiculous prices, if I have to use it as a bat instead of a rifle, that will work too...lol

Sounds like a pair I know, only these two would take said ammo and resell it at their shop!

As for me, I'm more than willing to part with a box of ammo or a mag or two if somebody asks.
As for the great panic, seen them both, and bought my stuff prior to them. I still buy a box or two of ammo or a mag if its priced right! But I refuse to pay panic prices or patronize a shop that sells on GB!

As for making a profit, if I can stick it to the dealer you bet I will, to another joe or jane, I give you a deal that will have you grinning!

Nothing wrong with that, some like to keep informed and see things from beginning to end. Its called: Being part of the learning process!
