Hey all,

How about this one. Lets say you are hired as an LEO, a Probation Officer, D.A. Investigator, or some other position that requires you to carry. You can carry OWB or IWB, your choice.

What Revolver would you pick to have on your side every day when you walked out the door?

Do you think your revolver pick would put you at any disadvantage because you didn't pick an auto?

I think I'd pick the 627 in 4 inch, the 8 shot version, and I would swap out the factory rubber grips for a nice set of compact round butt style grips for it.
My other choice would be the 2 1/2 inch 627, yep, the BLOODWORK gun.

If those 2 weren't available, I would take the M27 with the 3 1/2 barrel with the smaller grips.

That's my choices. What would yours be?

Thanks

Below is a photo of my first LE gun. It still is a great LE gun and I'd strap it on today.

carry rev.

I started in police work in 1970 and we all carried revolvers. I have a lot of semi autos and a lot of s&w revolvers and I still love wheel guns. I think my favorite is the model 19 and the 66 of which I have the 2 1/2 and the 4 inch and I lean towards the 4 inch 66. I retired from law enforcement after 33 years.

686-6 4 inch barrel 6 shot cylinder in chest holster. I am a wheelchair user so a belt holster will not work well for me at all.

The 4 inch 686 is hard to beat. I carried one my duty belt for several years. I've never equaled the accuracy that gun gave me out to 25 yards. When it came to scoring our 60 round qualification course, my target had one large ragged hole in its center. That gun was a real shooter. Stupid me let it go:(

REVO CHOICE

If in a suit without the heavy duty belt rig & paperwork being the majority of the day, I'd likely go with a lighter/smaller J frame, maybe even an ultralight, but a 640 enclosed hammer or humpback most likely. If in uniform the 8 shot would certainly get a good consideration but I'd be comfortable with my 4" 681.

During my full time law enforcement career I carried a 2.5 inch Model 66-1, a 4 inch Model 66-2, a 3 inch Model 13-3 as a primary weapon. I carried, at various times during my career, a Model 60, Colt Agent and finally a Model 342ti as a backup/off duty/administrative gun. I am retired but still serve as a reserve narcotics investigator for a police department. My primary issued weapon is an HK USP 45 Tactical, but I am qualified with and carry a Model 27-2 nickel, 3.5 inch as an off duty weapon.

I have carried numerous semi-autos over the years but I still have a warm place in my heart for a revolver.
