Somewhere around here is a Ruger MkIII Competition Target. I don't shoot it a lot, but I tend to smile a lot when I do.
I have a few non-standard Colts that I like, both revolver and semi-auto, but the one I like most varies with the passage of time. Until a couple of weeks ago I had a half-century old high-90s Cobra that filled that slot, but then I lucked into a semi-nice M1903 .32 ACP that feels pretty good in the hand. I already had a M1908 in .380, but I like it from a distance -- it's a GO model and too nice to shoot. I need a slightly rougher 1908 to fill that role. Some day.
On balance, almost any S&W edges the comparable gun from any other maker. I guess I'm a loyalist that way, even though I recognize that not all S&W products have been unburdened by strange engineering decisions. Last week I took delivery of a Model of 1913 .35 semiauto, a gun whose design leads me to wonder if LSD was actually discovered a half century before the commonly accepted date.
