I get the catalog in the mail every so often. Do you buy any of the NRA branded products? Is the quality good? Does the NRA make money off them?

Depends on what you buy - the quality is ok to marginal - nothing top shelf. If they'd go to a much better product and charge a bit more, I'd likely buy more. I've never ordered from the catalog, but I have shopped in the store at the museum in Fairfax. The first time I went, I bought a bunch of stuff - all books, stickers, clothes, etc. The next time I went several years later, there was absolutely nothing new and I felt like I was in groundhog day. No purchase made. They need new products and a change of pace.

No, over priced gimmick stuff, books and clocks with hidden guns.

The NRA makes money on everything.

I have looked, but to be honest there has never been anything I wanted.

I have there denim vest. I like it. Made in the USA, around $60, jacket isn't much more. Pretty good for American. Snaps were a little tight at first, had to work them a few times. I like the extra pockets. The velcro holster is so so. I'd like to find something that has more retention. I like straps on my holsters. But you can take it out.

I get the emails, and see stuff I like, just nothing I really need. If they sold more stuff in the stores, I would be more likely to buy on impulse. I got a hat and t-shirt that way. I'd probably by a glass or mug, but I don't want one bad enough to make the effort to order it and pay shipping.

Also got a set of brass punches from Grace, made in the USA. I like they have a filter for made in the USA stuff on their website.

I agree those are hokee but that is just a small percentage of what they got.

I bought a hat last year, cause I wanted people to know I supported the 2nd Amendment, and people that don't know guns, often know who the NRA was. Plus some part of the money was going to support gun rights. Probaly not as much as I would like, but more then if I would have bought a Cabelas hat.

My wife bought a billfold, denim vest and a coffee cup for Christmas presents for me. I sent my brother (a Deputy Sheriff) the same coffee cup for his birthday. The cup has on one side, "The Only Thing That Stops A Bad Guy With A Gun Is," and the other side reads, "A Good Guy With A Gun." One thing I do approve of is much of their stuff now is made in the USA compared to say the U.S. Capitol Gift Shop where (unless they've changed) most of the stuff was made in China.

I just remembered, years ago I bought a stoneware coffee mug with the NRA logo that I used every day at work. I finally broke it but they don't carry them anymore.

NRA Store

There are several "How To" books offered from the NRA Store, dis-assembly of revolvers & pistols and long guns too. Agree that some of the merchandise is for show only but there are many things for sale. Look through the ON LINE Store offering, you may find something you have been looking for.

I bought the Gasden hat but it shrunk the first time I washed it. I'd probably buy another and maybe one of their billfolds

Like anywhere else I shop for good buys..the NRA store included, it they aren't a good buy I go elsewhere.

If I want to make a meaningful contribution to the NRA I do it through the NRA-ILA.....that's the best way to put my $$ to work to defeat the gun-grabbers IMO.

Don

P.S. I don't begrudge the numerous mailings I receive from the NRA, they like everyone else have to get the message out and solicite $$$ .....it's no problem to put the mailings in the trash or hit the delete button. They're doing their best to protect the 2nd amentment and it is very little to ask for us to be understanding IMO.

I just bought a coffee table book about the firearms museum and figured that since I was buying something I'd throw a t-shirt in as well. The book is beautiful but the shirt is pretty low quality.
