Like all of us we have other and bigger problems in our lives than guns. It isnt like it was THE very gun he used to earn his medals. He probley was like us all and bought guns that turned him on, put em in a sock and stuffed them in a safe and never shot them. The Luger hurts worse. My uncle eldon also was highly decorated. He was my mothers only and younger brother. He never married and he and I were close, right next to my dad. He lived with us when he came home from the war. I was 4 or 5 but remember it like yesterday. I seen him dropped off in front of our store for the first time and my mother and aunt going nuts. We fished and hunted together a year before he died he came and lived with me for a few months. He ran a neat junk yard and I could of had anything I wanted. He had a heart attack in 72, open heart surgery and a stroke on the table. It affected him mentally and he often talked suicide. The very last time I seen him alive we were sitting in his garage. He said your dad took all my guns away from me. He reached in a tire and pulled out a rag wrapped package. It was the luger in its holster. He said here is one he didnt get. Shes yours! I miss that one more than murphys. Uncle eldon had six bronze stars, a silver star and two purple hearts. Outside of a few other momentos that was all I had left. He did have a thing about cutting off german epilets etc and I have a sack of them and a german pocket watch and a russian pocket watch. I asked him how did you get the russian watch? He just laughed and said he took it off a russian soldier. Said hell, he had on a strange uniform and I thought maybe he was a jap! He was in the 82nd attached to gliders and in one incident only he and one more out of 14 on his glider lived. He also was first in to one of those Nazi death camps and told me first hand about the starving prisoners and ovens. Our local paper had a nice lead article write up on him featured when all the boys were returning. I have that. Sorry for the sidetrack again. The picture was when he was overseas that he sent my mother.
