I offen wonder if anyone down south ever wakes up and say's something like going out to shovel the sun shine out of the driveway.

It's going down in the low 40's tonight. I'm originally from NJ but left it's clutches 35 years ago. I knew it was time to go when I shoveled out my completely plow buried "lead-sled" Buick Le Sabre and went to work. Coming home, someone was in MY spot. Was fixing to beat the guy with the lower half a pool cue if'n he didn't move. Don't miss it. Joe

Complaining about snow in the winter in New England is kinda like complaining about the heat in the summer in Phoenix....

Now in Memphis - No one complains about snow. They all jump into their cars and crash into someone --- FUN :)

SNOW

I've lived in the Catskill Mountains for 65 yrs. it's nothing new. Always have a month supply of everything... If it wasn't for shoveling snow and being a pallbearer at friends funerals i wouldn't get any exercise at all

I made sure I had plenty of the essentials for this storm : coffee, hot chocolate, ................ , a bunch of young teenagers to do the shoveling.

I don't mean to be obvious, but ONE snowblower is much cheaper than a BUNCH of teenagers. If you get the electric start option, your wife can clear the snow. :D

To the big-time grocery shoppers, if it snows 1 day, power off for 5 days, what do you do with all those groceries, frozen food, and no electricity for your electric stove, refrigerator and freezer -- pack the frig and freezer with clean snow? Just wondering.

I have a whole house generator and 2 huge freezers. The teenagers are free, hard-working laborers. Like my Dad, I believe hard work is good for mind and body, so we do without a snowblower.[emoji2]

Well so far I'm lucky . It look's like the eastern part of the state is taking the brunt of the storm. At this time it looks that I've only got 7 or 8 inches of snow but I've not been out yet and the wind is blowing pretty hard so it's drifting. After noon I likely go out and make my first pass with my plow.:D

POST 14, GUESS WHAT I'LL BE DOING?

HOPEFULLY working your butt off and making that big overtime $$$ you dreamed of all year. Some will be making the big $ while spending a lot of time in a diner with the truck running outside, others may call in sick with the flu. I'm with the more hype the smaller the storm group. I think the airlines really blew it by closing WAY TOO EARLY. People could have traveled for an extra 36 hours at least, in some cases.

It's a storm, but at least around here, not the worst one ever. The storm center shifted east, but not far enough east. As a result, my area, south of Boston got hit fairly hard. The central and western part of the state didn't get hit nearly as hard.

Still snowing, but in a bit I'll head out and start up the snow blower to do the first round of snow clearing in my driveway and walks.

Of course now we can start the "Best caliber to carry while clearing snow from your driveway" thread.

He must have listened to the Weather Channel and their "drama queen," Jim Cantori. :D

I refuse to watch the Weather Channel. First, because of Cantore, they hype the heck out of everything. He's the idiot that came up with the idea of naming snow storms.

Second, because of his humping of Global Warming, uh, Global Change, uh, Global something or other.

What a maroon.

Just got back in from my first snow clearing trip. Took a bit under two hours to clear a two car driveway, walk way, steps, corral where I keep the trash cans, and the hydrant down the street.

16-20" of snow depending on where i stuck the tape measure. A fair amount of wind overnight drifted the snow around. The berm at the end of the driveway was about double that. Fortunately, it's very light, dry snow, so it moves easily.

I'll hit it again later on since there are still several more hours of snow, but the worst seems to be over.

Now, if it would only warm up to 60 by the weekend. Alas, this isn't late March or April when that sort of things happens.

Watching the news this noon, they had sightings of Bigfoot walking around in the Boston area. I wonder who that could be. :D
