.41 Magnum Defensive Rounds....

Contact information is still good but last I spoke to him he was no longer making those .41 HP wadcutters...he said his mold had worn out but knowing one can not wear out a MP mold my guess would be that they were a pain to cast and he just took them out of the lineup.

I bought one of the molds and it is one of the more difficult to cast with.

This thread makes me really miss my .41 Blackhawk. I still have a few rounds loaded with Blue Dot powder from before it became a no-no.

Since these were mentioned in posts # 19 & 35,here's the C.O.P. 41s'.

I pretty much like the 4", 4-5/8", 4-3/4, & 5-1/2" bbl lengths.
You do get more steam from the longer bbls. though.

I found a box of WW 175gr Silvertips the other day...
Made me happy.

I used Sierra 210 grn. JSWHP over a couple of tablespoons of 2400 for duty rounds. Actually, they were the loads recommended by Elmer Keith.;)
They ran in the 900 to 1000 fps range. They let the air out of everything I used them on.

Even had a one shot stop on a 1970 Ford Bronco, but that's another story.

You killed a bronco? Did you have it mounted? Lol sorry I couldn't pass it up. But did you hit the engine?

I have some cor-bon 41mag but they say not to shoot cor-bon ammo in the smiths it's too hot?

Nah, a kid I stopped was joy riding in a friend's Dad's Bronco.

He tried to run me down and I went up over the hood. I put a round thru the tail gate and into the radio in the dash.

His solution for explaining the bullet hole was to go the PD and report a car load of Mexicans was chasing him.
My radio was faster and a WHP at the PD put two and two together and arrested him.

Technically, my one shot made him stop at a place where he was apprehended.
Does that count??:rolleyes::D

No, the tie isn't bullet proof. That is the bullet I dug out of the Bronco radio and made a tie tack out of it.

I love it, glad it turned out for you.
Was he charged with assault with a deadly weapon?
Should have been!

That's a beautiful holster!
Thanks for sharing.

He was never charged with anything. He got out of jail with no bond before I got out of the emergency room. His dad was a fire department union representative that kept the City and County Attorneys cowed with threats of strikes.

I was called into the Colonel's office for a "visit".. I expected he would back me up. Funny how goin' from a tough Lt in the field to a Colonel behind a desk changes a feller.

He said "From now on, you will carry the Model 66 we issued you." There had been no directive requiring that. It came out about a month later. He carried 44 Mag until he became a desk jockey.
As I was leaving his office he also said "Your mustache is too long."

I turned around and said, "Consider this my two weeks notice, I quit." Best thing I ever done.

Been ranchin' ever since.

The holster was made by fellow forum member Dave Keith.

Thanks for the link those are some nice holsters.
Enjoyed the short story too.

I'm still laughing at that Blue Dot sure do sparkle!

That's a standard issue Microcephalic Invertebrate Gelding (TM) executive staff level officer right there.

Found an old '50s sedan out in the AK woods one day. Put a .41 210 grain jacketed SWC through the steel fender and into the block. Made a quarter-size hole, that would have been a stopper had it been running. Blue Dot load that was.

I like the .41, it's great on the N frame & I've seen some 175-210 factory ammo that would make great carry loads for it.
