Do you still carry a pen, fountain or ballpoint? Which?

Are you finding it difficult to locate refills in an age of disposable pens?

I have both Cross and Parker pens, but most often these days, use a stainless Parker T-Ball Jotter. On fancier days, I have Parker 75's in sterling silver and even their Premiere pens, both fountain and ballpoint. I think their Premiere line made in the 1980's-1990's may be the finest pens ever made.

My son got away with my Mont Blanc, but I don't miss it a lot. (I let him keep it when he asked.)

One of my Cross ballpoints was made in China, but seems the same quality as the American-made one. It's the sole Chinese item that I respect much, other than some saucers that I bought at Target and a kitchen knife from Henckels International line.

A few years ago my mom gave me a Fisher "Space Pen". It soon became my favorite pen. They're nitrogen filled, and write extremely smooth. And they write upside down. The astronauts use them! (according to a popular TV show)

I make my own pens. I prefer the Parker gel refills versus the Cross refill. I have pens that take both refills. You can get refills through Woodcrafters also.:)

I still carry a good pen. I like Cross, and have purchased many. I often find them at garage sales, unused, still in the box. Once I found a grove of Hican trees, grafted pecan and hickory, I brought in several bags of their nuts to work because many of my co-workers thought I was pulling their leg about the hicans. I even brought in a few branches. One of the men I worked with made me about ten pen and pencil sets out of the Hican limbs. They were quite a conversation piece and I still carry them every once in a while. I have gave most away to friends and family. I guess I need to make another run to get more limbs. My buddy that made the pen and pencil sets has long retired so I will have to find someone else to make them.

I don't care to make the pencils but I can make the pen.:)

Cross and Parker. I have 6 or 8 Parker 51's including my Dad's old one and a cheaper one I used to do homework with in the 50's. All homework had to be done in ink. No pencils or ball point pens.

I also have my grandmothers Schaeffer from the 20's or 30's.

I often carried them at work before I retired. Young folks would look and be amazed, you mean you pull a lever to add ink?????

With good reliable (Bic) ball point pens sold in packs for a dime each
I have no intention of messing with an ink pen. To be fair my memories
of ink pens stretch back to my school years and i'm sure today's pens
are better. I just have several ball points laying around where I might
need one.

I go through pens like some people go through peanuts. Used to carry the big old Mont Blanc years back but when some judge grabbed it to sign an order and then dropped it nib first on the floor.... I gave up. I now use the throw away rolling writers. Uni-ball seems to work just fine. Cross ball points always raised a big callus on my finger-but I did like the chrome ones. Problem with ball point inc is that it just doesn't flow as easily as the rolling writer ink.

I have grown fond of "Quill" brand pens. I was given one as a gift in 1986 and still carry that one quite often, and have purchased a couple more since then. They'll use Cross refills.

I don't recall that I've ever used a fountain pen in my life.

I love the Parker Stainless Jotters. They're the only pen I'll carry on duty. I can easily fit two, in any of my uniform shirts. I have one pen that I used almost daily for 6 years, It just got refilled last month. Parkers are the absolute best ball point pens, for police work.

I had a Mont Blanc that I purchased at JFK, I think it was, close to 25 years ago. I soon gave it to a young colleague who was bound for Harvard Business School.

Never saw either of 'em again.:)

Currently I just grab whatever ballpoint is handy.

My quill goose Edgar, who carries a bottle of Ink around his neck, follows me everywhere I go.
I just yank out a quill, pull out my pen knife and Then write away.
But they are not happy campers like at my credit union when Edgar turns loose a load on the floor!
It really a Pilot G-2.

From Rapidograph -Koh I Nor on my desk (makes writing fun, far as I'm concerned) on down the line to Uniball is what I carry on purpose. I'm not quite foolish enough to try to impress someone in my business with a pen. The guy I work for has other people with pens.
I don't wear a pocket protector either...:)

(I'm actually more of a HB 2 kind of guy)

So, you're a quill hunter, eh? Sounds more cruel than trophy hunting to me;)
