Boys, they jumped the gun on us . Pun intended. They are welcoming comments. Suggest we leave them some. I did. On a diet anyway. Here we go.

It's their business to run as they desire. Obviously, Whataburger is concerned with unease on the part of diners that encounter open carry. Texas legislators were correct to have two posting signs. One bans concealed carry and one bans open carry. Whataburger is fine with concealed carry.

If the extreme end of the open carry folks would curb the necessity to exercise their "by God given rights" their wouldn't be as much push back from the business community.

I went through a Hunter's Education class with one of my sons years ago and one of the instructors made the comment; "There are hunters, there are non-hunters, and there are anti-hunters. Hunters should try to conduct themselves in a manner so that they don't turn non-hunters into anti-hunters." He gave the example of a hunter tying his dead 8 point buck on the hood of his truck and driving around town, and hanging out at the super-market parking lot just so everyone could see his trophy (blood running down the grill of his truck and all). He had the "right" do to this, but he may likely have influenced some non-hunters into becoming anti-hunters.

A little common sense would go along way with the extreme end of the open carry crowd by exercising their rights responsibly.

More often than not this is what I see with open carry

Something to that effect. If he had walked into the restaurant I would leave.

The odds of me open carrying are slim to none. We heard this same rhetoric 20 plus years ago when concealed carry became law. "Blood in the streets , the old west, etc."

The problem I have is , I have said this many times before "being nibbled to death by a duck." We give a bit here, a bit there, etc. You don't eat a pie, the whole thing at once. Just piece by piece until there is no more.

Had we balked at "please press 1 for English", voted with our feet, and not done business with that firm we might not be in the unpleasant position we are in today. (micro example).

This has been beat to death on this forum and I am not trying to resurrect it. I just find, Whataburger, falling into lockstep with a part of American culture I don't think I wish to participate in. They have a right to restrict and I will respect that right by lack of patronage of their business. Really not a hard thing to do. And I won't be carrying openly while not eating a Whataburger.

something to consider: if you go into a Whataburger wearing an empty holster in plain view, will that tip off a miscreant in the store that you are possibly unarmed and your firearm is most likely in your car?

another reason to carry a backup, stick to the drive thru, or, like me, go somewhere that toasts the buns!!

Dang, Arik
"More often than not?" Really? That's a super secret squirrel technique, right there.:D

I've never seen anyone carrying like that. That doesn't make much sense at all to me, (other than an undercover entry, and there's sure better methods)

How's he gonna sit in a chair anyhow?

I'm not talking about that exect same thing every time. I mean cheap holsters, cheap belt or no belts, gun dangling around by the one loop for "one size fits all" and in some cases something like that picture. How's he going to sit? Exectly! How about if someone walks by and accidentally brushes up or hits him.

Almost never do I see a proper holster and belt. Why? Cause no one wants to spend $60 -$100 for a holster with proper size, shape, retention and stationary (not swinging around) why when a holster is a holster and a $10 uncle Mikes is just as good as a Milt Sparks.

When that whole OC in Starbucks was going on I decided to check it out. I made it to the front door and turned around. One of the first things I saw was a guy with one of those belt clip holsters but it was clipped to his pocket and he had a FS gun in it. So the gun is just dangling there. Another guy had his 1911 on half cock, safety off. I'm not even going to get into the guys with rifles

I gotcha, buddy.:)
I know I'm driftin' here, but a $500 holster in THAT position is just as boneheaded as a$10 whatchmacallit holster.

I usually use the drive-through.

I dont even eat there preferring Walbangers instead.:D Ever since the old lady who owned it died,as far as im concerned--its gone way down hill. The Corp office was SUPPOSED to have stayed here in Corpus, but one of the kids decided to move it to San Antonio. The Corp office used to be located on Staples street and across the street from a fairly new rebuilt WB.
