Do you really carry ALL the time?

More than 90% who respond will say "yes", and I don't doubt them. But in my experience it's the other way around in the general population....90% of those who can, don't.

I like it when I'm standing around with people who are discussing in great detail....maybe even arguing about....what gun, caliber, capacity, holster, sights, reloading technique, blah, blah, blah is BEST.

Then I ask, "So, who's got a gun?" and the silence is deafening.

I've done that a couple of times and they look at me like I'm nuts

There are roughly only 987657 concealed carry permit holders in the state of Texas. I feel obligated to be armed all day and everyday. Be safe out there.

Do you really carry ALL the time?

No.

Much of the time, sure. Both an acquired habit and a choice. Maybe even close to most of the time. Depends on many things.

I won't, however, refuse to go to certain places or engage in different activities simply because it's either not allowed (legally), or just not a good idea, to take a weapon.

Life isn't quite so black or white. Lots of grey (or gray, if you prefer that spelling, meaning even that is up for choosing :) ).

One way I acclimated to carrying more often on my own time was to go back to carrying smaller revolvers and pistols. It's a compromise in many ways ... but TANSTAAFL, folks.

The one thing that always remains the same? Me. Us. The user.

If you can't safely, properly, comfortably and effectively manipulate and use whatever it is you've chosen, when things get fast & fuzzy, are you really that much better off carrying it? I can't answer that question for anyone other than myself.

Choose wisely. Don't be afraid to reassess and reconsider choices and alternatives. Life is about choices. Making good ones seems to work out better at times, in both the short and long term. ;)

Yes

Yes, 100% of the time, except when it would be illegal or impossible to do so. I always have a handgun in my car, too; I'm never totally unarmed but, last week as a "for instance", I went to a music concert at a sports arena, and I knew in advance they had metal detectors so I left my guns in the car. No choice = no choice = no gun.

I did carry a weapon but it was not going to go bang and is undetectable by metal detectors. Totally legal.

I'm armed whenever I leave the house. Visited Philly last summer and went to a museum, but had to leave the gun behind while there. I was very uncomfortable w/o it.

Like many others here I carry anywhere I can, I do not patronize businesses that doesn't want my firearm in their store.

Here in Ohio are some forbidden carry zones, which are covered in the Ohio Attorney General's website some of these places I have to go into occasionally such as government buildings so I disarm at the car.

I do not necessarily cary in the house, but there is always a loaded firearm within arms reach.

This is serious business, there is no point in jumping through the hoops of obtaining a ccw license if you aren't going to carry. As for working outside yep I'm armed.

I carry a spare tire in my cars as well.

No, most of us don't really carry all the time in a literal sense. I always have one in my truck right next to my right hand (if I'm in the truck). I also always have several around the house at arm's length (no little kids live in my house). I do always carry in my church where I preach. Aside from that, if I find myself going into a mall, shopping center, grocery store, etc my car gun goes into my pocket.

In public I am armed, and have made it a point to avoid business and other places which "prohibit" my legal defense. In my vehicle, it is either on me, or very close at hand. In my house, they are very close or I have one sitting close enough to reach with out much elapsed time.

Am I paranoid, No; am I ready, Yes.

All the time, just like bigwheel. Will not go into any establishment to spend my money there, if they forbid my carrying.

I have on order 250 "no guns, no money" business cards!

That said, being new to CC, I'm trying to carry every day. There are some places where it is against the law, and so my gun goes into the safe that's anchored in my car's trunk.

I've pretty much changed my wardrobe and the way I dress. As a thin, runner-type, it's a change to wear long-tailed shirts, larger pants, and yes, a good gun belt. But I made the choice, and doing these things are part of the price.

One thing I've noticed very quickly is that most people are oblivious to the fact. If I'm not being obvious about it, no one notices (or at least no one has mentioned it).

Code:
Your bank is a no gun zone?

Unless I'm mistaken banks are not mentioned in state law.

My bank does not have any signs.

Yes the credit union I am a long time member of is a no gun zone .. members are trying to get that changed ..

the bank my wife worked at there were no signs ..

LCP in a Nemesis everyday at a very minimum. I've also started to carry my Kimber pepper spray in my off pocket, I live in an area with a lot of agressive stray dogs

I do, in fact, carry ALL the time. Except at places where it is not allowed.... and when I am asleep. Oh and (to be technical about it) I don't strap on a gun the first thing in the morning, as soon as I get up. But, as soon as I get dressed, I strap on a holster and the gun with it. Even after I get home, I almost always just keep the gun on, until I get ready to go to bed.

It has become a habit for me... and thus, a normal part of my routine.

Yah, I'm kinda in the same boat as the OP (interesting spelling of Jessie - not many of us use that spelling)

I try to carry all the time or at least when I go out of the house - it's a hard habit to start it seems as it doesn't feel natural to me yet. But I do have my current carry gun at the front door for me to grab on the way out - it's a IWB holster so I don't carry when I'm wearing sweats - gotta fix this some how.

I'm getting better at carrying and now have a small 38sp in one of the cars glove box which doesn't leave the car.

I also need to get a better belt to help this habit as well as a better OWB holster (I have one for my 9mm but I don't like it as it doesn't cover up at all) -

I had a good gun belt many years ago before I added girth to my waist line :( sadly, I can't even get it around my waist anymore - another item handed down to the wife LOL
