Annoyed at thread drift

There is something humorous about a scammer; a lady who runs a pawnshop looking for a nice .45 acp, already regularly uses a .41 mag; and a Harley for sale! 😄
Made for a movie, or TV!
Is backup immediately available should conditions dictate? 😉

Backup? Does a 2 1/2 inch Model 66 loaded with with .357 pass muster? Or if more distance is needed a Ruger .357 Blackhawk.

I do get a kick out of dealing with scammers, 15 years selling & buying on eBay has taught me well.

And the lady drives a 4X4 pickup and when the weather is nice one of 2 sports cars. Going to try my hand(and feet) at Autocross next month.

The Springfield Range Officer is a GREAT pistol. Grab it if you can. I say this as an owner of 25 1911's, the most recently acquired (yesterday) being a Springfield Armory Range Officer Compact.
BCC is definitely the 1911 afficianado in the drift...so what he said.

Just pretend this is hwitty.

I'll see if I can get someone to take a picture of Dad and I together tomorrow. He may or may not feel like having his picture taken. I'll ply him with beer.

Well here goes.

My father had been in Army ROTC in high school. The University of Texas had a Naval ROTC program, no Army ROTC. He entered college prior to Pearl Harbor and was accepted for 1 of the available 100 slots in the Naval ROTC program. There was a draft at the time, joining the NROTC was joining the Navy as an officer candidate.

My nephew did a good job with the picture with his phone, his subjects just cannot smile on command.

I'm up, too. Maybe not walking & talking...but awake. My sleep habits have become increasingly strange. I get home from the retirement place my Mom is at a little after two PM. About four I start fighting to stay awake. I try & stay up till eleven or twelve, & I just know that I'll be able to sleep. Wrong! If I do fall asleep, it's only for an hour or two, then I'm wide awake. About four or five AM I might be able to drift off, but only for an hour or so. I'm dreading it, but I think I'm going to have to do another sleep study. They wire you up like a stereo, to where you can hardly move, and then tell you to try & fall asleep as normally as possible. Sure, no problem. So, the cycle starts again...

Tim,
Have you tried a little nip of some scotch or brandy
right before turning in? Even if you are not a drinker
it might help you get to sleep and stay asleep longer.
My grandpaw used to swear by a shot of Southern Comfort
right before bed time. That was about the only drinking
he did except for an occasional mixed drink during the holidays.

VE-Day today. Homer's entry for this date 1945 onboard the Yolo:

May 8, 1945

The weather was bad! No attacks developed during the night. All had a good night's sleep. This morning a dispatch was hand¬ed me by the radio operator on watch announcing the end of the war in Europe. VE Day was greeted with little emotion and few words. The end was expected so there was no surprise or celebration. Among the crew comments were few. In the wardroom quite a bull session developed. It lasted throughout the day and into the evening. Around the anchorage and on the beaches things remain the same. Now the Pacific is the theatre of activity! As for future problems and strategy the sailor knows little, cares less and thinks only about going home. Still VE Day did not go unnoticed. All hands listened to President Truman announce the termination of the war in Europe. Thanks¬giving services were conducted on many ships. At exactly 1200 one round from every gun ashore accompanied by a gun salvo from all fire support vessels was directed at enemy targets in recognition of the victory.

In spite of the rain, ships moor to Yolo in ever increasing numbers. Since April 2nd, 280 vessels have been serviced. Again Yolo is low on both dry and frozen stuffs and the waiting list for ships desiring supplies grows longer. Some types of vessels have priority. Always there is the repeated refrain from all wanting more of this and that. To handle vessels on an around the clock basis would require far more crew. By supplying ships only during daylight hours the crew has some rest. At night a regular watch with rifles and machine guns patrol the deck. A rotation was worked out so that all share the burden. The watch is alert for swimmers and small boats.

Beautiful day here in Pigeon Forge:cool: Practically spent the entire afternoon in the Titanic Museum! ;) It is well with the money spent for the visit, will need to bring the granddaughter back in about 5 years. I learned a few things about the Titanic and some of its passengers I never knew. The folks that work there and re-enact passengers and crew do a good job. They have a new exhibit that pays tribute to the band, they have a 100 year old Steinway there from that period of time. The woman portraying Molly Brown played some of the numbers as played by the band and it was like stepping back in time!
My wife and I really enjoyed this and even she said it was worth the trip! ;)
Tomorrow it's a trip through the Smokey Mountains! :D

Mothers Day and I got no present. Not even a happy Mother's Day.

I been called a mother so many times I deserve a happy Mother's Day.

It is currently my top contender. I would love to buy local but Bud's has it for $125 less, that is too much to leave on the table.
But will try a green back cash offer here first.

The last time I tried a green back offer, the LGS had a new in box pistol I had decided to purchase. They were asking $200.00 OVER MSRP, I could buy it online for $200.00 UNDER MSRP including shipping and paperwork expence.

I offered them $150.00 UNDER MSRP cash and showed them a printout of the same exact pistol from online seller.

They told me "cash is no longer KING, this is our price, go ahead and buy the one from online dealer!"

Needless to say, I did and have not set foot in that LGS since!
For anything.

End rant.
