Morning has arrived and I have my coffee but I am definitely moving very slow this morning. Weather girl just verified kwselke's evaluation of our local weather,we have had awesome conditions the last few days but summer is here I guess. Have a good day, drift on.

Little soggy here! We got about 3" of rain yesterday as a series of cells passed over, with steady rain in between. Lots of lightning and thunder! I use the Spark Alert feature of the WeatherBug app. to check on lightning strikes. It gives yellow flashes ⚡ ⚡ on a aerial view so you can see lightning as it happens. It also shows the distance to the closest strike, which was 0.2 mile yesterday. The map was almost solid yellow at one point!
The closest river, the English ( appropriate for Amish country 😙 ), is under a USWS flood alert which is 14', about 15' or is expected. Level to affect me is about 22' so should be OK ? Ramsey Creek on the west side of my property did rise to within 2' of the top and was moving like a class 4 whitewater river yesterday due to the sudden influx of water. Already dropped about 5', and still moving though not as fast. Problem arises if the English stops flowing into the Iowa River and backs up! Looks like more coming but not as heavy or constant but who knows ☔. 🌂 ??? No twirlies though ! 🌀 🍃
First go round of spring, sure there will be more, our turn in the waterworld of global heating up called summer! 😝

Wife has distracted me again. Must go learn how to ride a bicycle again. Shimano gear system? What ever happened to simplicity.
Geoff
Who has purchased five vehicles in less than one year, 2x Subaru, 1 Fleetwood, 1 Pride Go Go, 1 generic folding Chinese bike with too many complications....which I am about to ride...a helmet is suggested...recommended...demanded...sigh...it's the law....now where can I clip on a carbine....

A Prayer Request

Watching the news this morning, I saw where Oklahoma was really hit hard by tornado's. Though I'm a Texan first & foremost, Oklahoma will always have a place in my heart because of the years I lived there. Good people! I offer a prayer for them now, & I hope there will be no more devastation. Please send a prayer their way...

Tornados, YUCK!! 🙏
Over the years I have lived in many of the tornado hotspots, Louisiana, Texas, Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, but never Oklahoma! Seen bad tornados in MN., WI., ILL., TN., MS.and several others.
The TV prognosticators, news harpy's, love to show tornados in daylight so much that people put themselves in harm's way to catch their perfect video? 😛
But the ones that are scary to me are the tornados hidden by intense rain, hurricanes ( from when I lived in Louisiana), thunderstorms, night, heavy winds, and the fog of sleep in the early morning hours! Sneak up on you despite warnings! 😖 And what is with the aftermath discussion of was it a Class 1-5 Fujita tornado, or straight-line winds or tornado that destroyed your house, barn, or building? Bet we will be naming them soon in an attempt to attract viewers and advertising $$$ to this station, that channel, this weatherperson with XX years of experience the area vs. that person with only XX-1 years experience? Everybody knows it is the physical appearance of the weatherperson is all that matters! 😝
Look how advertising $$ affect the internet now, cause that is the most accurate information available anywhere! 😏

There is also reference to the fact that the US was no longer training new pilots to go to combat in anticipation of the war ending. Presumably this was because of the monetary war debt magnitude. For whatever reason I have never heard any of these critical facts concerning WW II. Thanks for the stories concerning this period of the history of the war. Makes much more sense of the decision to use the atomic weapons to end the war. Even though that decision is now criticized by those who might not even be here on earth if the atomic weapons had not been used to end the military fanaticism of Japan.

I had not heard that US pilot training had ended. Upon thinking about it I would speculate that, the capture of Okinawa would allow the basing of Army Air Corps. planes a short distance from Japan and Formosa. The cessation of hostilities in Europe would have freed many trained airmen from obligations in other areas of the world. Training was not without risks, so I can understand it being reduced if they felt the manpower would not be needed. Just my thoughts.

Good morning drifters, hope everyone is doing good on this fine Tuesday morning. I know it is afternoon for some of you. It's 85 degrees here in the desert this morning and getting warmer by the minute. The sun came up as usual which is a good thing otherwise it would be very cold about now.

No hordes were observed over the night time hours and nothing to report this morning either. The horde of snow birds has migrated back north for the summer and won't be back until the weather changes back to cooler temps so now it is quite once again in the desert except for the owls and coyotes at night and the doves during the morning hours. It's a good time of the year just before the summer heat jumps on us.

Good Afternoon!

Woke up at 6;30 A.M. to the loudest Thunder Boomer I've heard in years? It shook the house and Rattled the windows. So I stayed up. Barely rained? All it did was make it Humid?

I've Been looking around for a NICE C10. I cant believe the JUNK that is out there? Drove an hour (Each Way) yesterday to look at a Red SWB 1987. I get there with CA$H in hand. The Pictures I was sent looked GREAT! But it was a put together POJ. It was originally a Blue truck. and had a TAN bed put on it a some point? And he was asking $11,000? I wouldn't have given $4000 if I had Really Really Wanted It and badly needed a truck! It broke their heart. The young couple Must' a thought I'd buy it? acted like they had already spent MY money? Too bad, I don't want junk! And any fool could tell, just peel back some of the rubber moldings and it was EASY to see. They kept asking me to make an offer? I just got in my truck and left, after Thanking them for wasting my time, after I had asked them if it was the original color ETC. Oh Well. I'll find one somewhere? I'm in NO Hurry. Its just a Toy for me.

So I Hope everyone had A Great Day So Far? Stay Safe, Stay Strong! Stay Well!

And always REMEMBER, you can use any Restroom your Heart Desirers! (SARCASIM) Tell 'em I said you could! (More SARCASIM) Just Don't tell Phil Robertson, I said So! He's going BLAISTIC about it on Social Media!

Marlon: "Here's Jim about to crawl into the Condor's nest to count the eggs".

"Here's the mother Condor unexpectedly returning to the nest."

"The female Condor has amazing lift capabilities."

"We'll be right back".

That reads uncannily like some of the "Wild Kingdom" gags my brother used to write, except that yours didn't have Perkins sitting in a director's chair, sipping martinis and fondling the script girl. :D:D

Well Br, Hows about "You can trust your car, to the man who wears a"...I'm sure you know the rest...
MST3K did a spoof of the ninja show starring Lee VanCleef. He was behind a tree and threw a star at a car that hit the tire causing a blowout. The MST guys all chimed in and sang, "You can always throw your star at the man who drives the car."

I did a spit take with that one.

Just pretend this is hwitty.

Being Outdoors!

Fishing, hunting, birdwatching, morel hunting, hiking, or even my favorite trail riding on horses, one occasionally has to take advantage of a tree or bush dependant upon the function. Doesn't seem to matter, everyone who has been outdoors beyond the local park for a period of time seems to figure out what to do!
I guess the biggest issue in the woods is bears, cause we all know what bears do in the woods!
