Good Morning!

The kids have been bugging me for about 2-3 weeks wanting to know what I wanted for Fathers Day? I'm very hard to buy for. I buy want I want when the mood strikes me.

So I decided I wanted my shop/garage totally cleaned. Everything removed and gone through.

We have kept a bunch of car parts, automotive paint, interior pieces ect. That now need to be tossed.

Old waxes, old spray cans, pieces of bottled oil, pieces of gallons of automotive paint, light bulbs We kept allot of the car parts in case the parts house needed a core. And in case the part didn't work properly, fit or leaked etc. Bye Bye old parts.

It's been 4 years since it was cleaned. My son did it when I was in the hospital having my leg removed. He was so worried that I wouldn't make it and to take his mind off everything, he cleaned the garage.

So today, wifey, myself, son, daughter and grandson are tackling the shop. In four years it's amazing how much stuff accumulated! But we've also worked on allot of cars. And its senseless to keep parts and touch up paint ETC for cars that I sold 2-3 years ago! I've bought and sold allot of cars in the past 4 years and the junk has piled up. And I'm also just sick of the cob webs and dust. And would be nice to gain some room?

So we are going to empty everything, clean the floor, clean the giant ceiling fan, but my main job is to tell em want not to keep! Time to freshen up the shop! The four years has went by fast.

So That's What's On Today's Agenda!

You know what is on the future agenda don't you? Looking for 'THAT' part you just threw out!
Nature abhors a vacuum !

Can't be repeated enough to show gratitude from all of U.S. !!!!!!!!!!!! ✌ 🗽

Bad rain flooded my shop again!!! Not as bad as the last time but I sure am tired of it! At least I have til Tuesday to clean it up! All the rains have washed so much junk into the drains that now they are clogging up making for more flooding. The 4 lane divided road in front of my shop is about over the median because it can't drain. It is somewhat entertaining watching the idiots splash into it and drowned out! You can't fix stupid but insurance shouldn't cover it!

Today Gladys Knight celebrates her 72nd birthday:eek:, one of my favorites.:)

Years ago, Chevy Chase (by far my least favorite of the original SNL cast, and the perpetrator of terrible, stupid movies ever since) did a one-hour TV special which actually had its moments.

One number was "...And The Pips". It was the real Pips, doing only their vocal parts and choreography for "Midnight Train To Georgia". Bizarre, and funny as hell.

Good Afternoon!

Taking a quick break. The garage is coming along nicely. I just took a ton of stuff to goodwill. Stacks of new floor mats with the tags still on them, that I had bought 6-8 years ago in a package deal I think (?) I had bought 200 sets originally?. We had already used the grays, the blacks, the tans. All was left was blues, greens and reds. Probably 20-25 complete sets left? I kept only two sets of each color. I can't remember the last time I saw a car with a blue-red-green interior? Since maybe the mid 80's? And took goodwill a ton more car stuff and new household hardware building type stuff. They were happy to have it. A full half of a truck bed of stuff filled to the side rail.

So break time is over. I'm Going to get back at it! I need a shower. It's very cloudy and VERY humid! I hope the rain holds off till we're done!

Twas the mid-70s, in all its freaky glory, and I was accompanying my grandpa to the bank in rural Oklahoma. He had, well, an interesting sense of humor.

He had started chuckling under his breath before we entered, so I knew something was about to happen. When we got near the two tellers, he reached into his shirt-pocket and pulled out a small vial of heart medicine, raised for all to see.

"Alright, everyone..this is NITROGLYCERIN !!! Nobody move, or I blow this joint sky-high !!!"

There were a few laughs, some smiles, and he deposited his SS check.

It was truly another era...

I was good with the group that went to Saltgrass Steakhouse for lunch and only had water to drink. I keep looking at that bear enjoying a cold one, so I declared Beer Time, and am having a big glass of America.

Cheers!

Temps near 90, cooking on the grill, smoking a cigar and drinking beer.
What's not to like?

Ever been to the Avalon Resort ?
Seems like hot weather might be the best time to visit ? 😎

Looked up Paw Paw, WV. on Google. Looks like an interesting area. Involvement in Hatfield-McCoy feuds, the Avalon Resort, very nice scenery, lots of history in the area, the tunnel which you have shown previously, lots of up and down, etc. !

This date in 1945 on the USS Yolo off the invasion beaches of Okinawa, as noted by the Commanding Officer of the ship.

May 28, 1945

At 0530 the word to secure was passed. This GQ had lasted for 10 hours, one of the longest that the ships have experienced. Smoke was made the entire time. Just before securing an enemy seaplane came over the anchorage. A few bursts from the gunners who could see sent him plunging into the sea. At 0010 LCS 119, patrolling the perimeter of the anchorage, splashed a Betty. Eight minutes later a Rufe hit the LCS. Heavy oil fires broke out and a couple of PCs picked up survivors. At Hagushi Claxton (DD 571) downed a Francis and Wilson splashed a bomber.

Shortly before breakfast, there was an alert lasting several hours. Another Japanese was caught over the anchorage. He suffered the same fate as the first. Out at picket station 15 destroyer Drexler was hit by a Frances. The ship rolled over and sank in less than a minute. Casualties were heavy. Out of the clouds this morning came a bomb that landed a hundred yards from Yolo. The plane was not visible and the pilot dropped the bomb on a hit or miss proposition. As we later learned, the attacks of May 27-29 were known by the Japanese as Kikusui VIII. During these three days the Japanese sent 120 kamikazes into the fight.

As is usually the case, when Yolo is being serviced, every small ship for miles around gets the word and begs to come alongside. Our routine answer is to “contact us in a few days”. Interesting¬ly, each ship brings us a little information that adds to our knowledge of the overall developments. Resistance on Okinawa continues with the mud and rain slowing down the armor. More than six inches of rain has fallen in the last eight days. The fight goes on! Superforts raid Tokyo, while fighters are sent over Amami and Tokuno both day and night.

Wow!

Just finished the shop/garage! We are beat! Started at about 8:30 am and finished at 5:30 pm. Got it straightened up. The only thing is I'll have to pay my crazy cousin to come over and haul a truck load of rubbish away. He'll do any thing for $20. And he'll get first dibs on the stuff. He's a horter of car parts. They search him when he goes to a Pull A Part junk yard. One told him they ought to charge him by the pound? He grabs everything in his path! His motto is, if they charge him a $5 lot entry fee, he's going to get $10 worth of extra stuff, besides what he went there for? He has buckets of bulbs, relays, fuses! Buckets and buckets full! Crazy!

I know wifey and my kids will be sore for 2 days. Grandson quit about 3:30. He got so nasty he couldn't deal with it any longer. And when a paint can ruptured in the trash can and got on him, he was done. He looked at me like really? It just got on his hands, but he was worn out and had to go shower.

So it's done. And we can all enjoy the rest of the long weekend.

Now I'm going to kick back and catch up on the drift, watch nothing that comes on tv tonight. And call it a day!
