I hope this thread doesn't violate any forum rules, although the subject is about funding terrorism.

Is it a new hoax or does the the Islamic Council of different countries ask food processing companies to have Halal accreditation in return for a rather large payment?
If I find the Halal logo on packages or produce I certainly would not buy the product and would cease from buying any products from this company.
Anybody have any information on this type of extortion?

Same idea as Kosher food labeling, to indicate processing has been performed in a religious-prescribed way. I am not sure if the Halal marking applies to food items other than meat, as Kosher does.

It's not really about other countries. It's about business. If you want more people to buy your product you have to make sure it meets their acceptance. Kosher food is kosher because a rabbi is hired by the plant to oversee that the process meets the kosher standard. This is a paid job. I'm sure halal works the same

I understand what the product marking is for and how Halal and Kosher are similar. I don't understand why anyone interested in a particular food item would refuse to buy it due to the certification. Seems pretty silly. That's all I have to say, this thread is undoubtedly headed to the Greybar Hotel....

The OP is thinking that there is pressure on the food industry from outside the country to conform to Muslim eating standards. In other words, to attack American values on all fronts. And before we know it everything is Islam. At least that's how understood his post

If that is the case, op should expand his horizons and travel a bit. Halal is everywhere, as is kosher. I've seen both in Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Halal and kosher are both good. There's no conspiracy behind either of these.

Read somewhere (on the internet, so it must be true).. That the food folks must pay to be allowed to put the mark on their packaging???
Comments welcome..
