Speaking of grandsons and fishing, Saturday was Ian's 7th birthday.

I took this with my cell phone. If I had spent a day at a portrait studio I don't believe I could have gotten a better shot.

If you want to know where he gets his dazzling good looks: (both age 5)

You nailed it!!!! Good subject matter! 😎

It's Friday and it's Beer Time!

My selection for this fine afternoon is Real Ale Brewing Co. Real Heavy Scotch Ale. Real Ale Brewing is located in the beautiful Texas Hill Country town of Blanco, just east of Luckenbach. https://youtu.be/xvZeYDBY4fw

The beer pours a dark copper and is cloudy. It is slightly sweet and very malty. The mouth feel is thick and luscious. An all round excellent example of the brewer's art. ABV is 9.3%, so it is a sipping beer, not a chugging beer.

I've had several of Real Ale's various beverages and Real Heavy is by far my favorite. I'm sure it comes on tap, but the only way I've seen it for sale is in 22 ounce bomber bottles. My cost for this bottle was $4.79 plus tax. The bottle will make two generous servings or three ample servings.

Cheers!

Home out of the heat and the A/C sure feels good. Glad I got it replaced when I did last year. 10 hours of high 90s been kickin my backside a lot more than it used to. Spent a little time today on my rifle research project but haven't made any decisions yet. I have plenty of good rifles to suit about anything you can use a rifle for but I don't have a bolt gun in 2.23/5.56 and I have the itch bad! Drift on!

No salves, just scratch that itch!
Wood and metal, either blued or stainless would be what I scratch it with!😁

If you just want a decent plinker, I'd look for a used Remington Model 7 or Ruger M-77 Mk-II Ultralight. Handy carbines and good enough accuracy out to 200 yards. I have the .308 version of the M-77 Mk-II Ultralight; it is 1" at 100 yards for three shots. After three shots the barrel has to cool.

I almost forgot... C. Homer Bast CO, USS Yolo off the invasion beaches of Okinawa this date 1945:

June 17, 1945

Only one GQ was called - all were glad following the events of the 16th. After the ship was cleaned holiday routine was announced. Both the Protestant and Catholic chaplains came aboard for well attended services. The Protestant chaplain stayed for lunch and told us of the life ashore. At 2105 bombs were dropped in the anchorage as planes passed high over us. Shore and ship guns blazed away.

Don't forget this Sunday, June 19th is Fathers Day!
My wife surprised me today!
A delivery truck showed up with a power recliner chair! 😊
Welcome To Golden Technologies – Lift Chairs, Power Chairs and Scooters – An American Manufacturer!
Salvation Army showed up about an hour later to pickup the 3 y..o. Lazy Boy.
What a surprise!
She has just about retired, most likely whenvwe get home around the first, so said she was coordinating big purchases while the money was still in the upper atmosphere! Ha Ha 😉
Hope your day goes as well as mine has and will in the mountain coolness!
