Lack of civility in the reloading forum.

Although some topics (on nearly all forum topics) tend to get "heated", they still stay pretty civil. I've been a member here for a few years and have learned quite a bit since then. I've also tried to share what knowledge/experience I've had through the years. I am always thankful to those who share their expertise/knowledge here, and always tell them so.

Very well written, and from here in Indiana-A Very Merry Christmas to all!!

Those of us that choose to continue to use conventionally lubed cast bullets need not be criticized for not switching to coated bullets. If it was good enough for Elmer Keith, it's good enough for me.

Thanks for a well written post Mr. Hillbilly.

They did not exist in Elmer's time so we don't know how he would have felt about them. Being the man he was, I'm sure he would have thoroughly tested them and come to his own conclusions.

I've been reloading since 1986 and I still use my RCBS Rockcrusher single stage press. I'm retired and I have lots of time on my hands so I reload all of my ammo except 22LR & 17 HMR. I don't worry about what other people are doing as I load ammo that meets my needs. After testing my reloads I settle on a reload that works best in by gun and that is what I go with.

Great post,Hillbilly77...

There is the occasional "my way or the highway" in numerous posts I read.I had begun to think that it might be nice if the reply box automatically started out with a line like "I tend to prefer"..."I like doing this"..."This works for me"...or something similar.Might serve as a reminder to the author to step off their pedestal and keep things civil.

It also doesn't hurt to try and read between the lines before flying off the handle. If all else fails then it's time to move on.Some things are best left unsaid.

Ding free and would like to keep it that way! :)

Good reminder HilBilly. It is unfortunate that we have some members who seem to revel in mucking up other people's threads with their nit-picking and an attitude that THEIR way is the ONLY correct or acceptable way.

But fortunately the majority of folks around here are great people and DON'T get their kicks that way.

Merry Christmas all!

I've only been reloading for about 3 years. Learned just about everything on this forum. Members here have been absolutely fantastic, particularly Rule3, who was kind enough to respond to my many PM's.

I have never gotten attitude from anybody. Yeah, some have expressed their opinions on what they do being the best, but 3 years in, I'm still loading on my Hornady single stage press and weighing every charge. Nobody has ridiculed me. Some have said I'm wasting time, but I prefer that to a squib or an overcharge.

Been to many other forums. This one is my favorite.

There are so many ways to get from point A to point B unless you ask a grumpy old geezer. Then you can just assume you're doing it wrong [emoji1]

This coming from a grumpy old geezer :D :p. Merry Christmas over there in Colorado Arjay.

Merry Christmas everyone. I have to go argue with my wife how to make proper Christmas cookies. I have to watch her and make sure she doesn't throw a double charge.

Depending on the type of cookie and which ingredient, a double charge isn't always a bad thing. A double charge of baking soda or salt is bad, but a double charge of chocolate chips or icing or nuts - not so much.... ;)

Only real butter. Follow the recepie;).

Also remember, if you feel that someone is being a jerk you can always add them to your ignore list and you won't have to read any posts from them except for ones you specifically click to show the post. I've used that option with one person and it keeps me from having to bother with whatever they post unless I specifically enable a post by them to see that post.

And great post, Hillbilly77! :D

And Merry Christmas to all too!

In some things there is no single right way. People argue over many things in reloading, but several people with differing opinions can all be "right".

There is more than one way to produce high quality ammunition. People sometimes get to a point where there is only one answer in their mind, but the truth is that several people can take several routes, all to the same, high-quality result.

It's always been....

It's always been touchy here, but usually it was out of concerns for safety. Maybe 2016 really has been hard on everybody, but people have been pretty crabby in the 'my way is best and you'd better believe it' way.
