What Do You Prefer, Coffee or Tea?

Mrs. Chief38 and I do enjoy our coffee. Two large mugs at breakfast every morning and maybe one more after dinner ONLY IF we are eating out. I was never a Tea lover and only drink it when I have a Cold - which thankfully is not often.

I like both, and which depends on my mood.

I prefer British tea brands and select from specific growing areas or from blends I like.

My tea brands are Twining's and Taylor's of Harrogate.

In a Darjeeling, I prefer the Taylor's, as it's a fuller, stronger example of the type. In Ceylon, the two brands are virtually identical.

Taylor's sells a good Assam here but I don't think Twining's exports their Assam teas here.

Excellent blended teas, sourced from more than one area, include Twining's Irish Breakfast and Taylor's Yorkshire Gold.

You'll probably have to order Taylor's teas Online. Amazon stocks a few, but Taylor's have their own US site.

Twining's, founded in 1706, supplies the Queen. Taylor's holds the Royal Warrant as supplier to Charles, Prince of Wales, heir to the Throne. Both firms provide excellent tea.

I'm a night shift truck driver.. My coffee usually looks like used motor oil and I drink plenty of it. My coffee drinking has almost resulted in an intervention but I can quit whenever I want

BTW, Starbucks's is the antithesis of what coffee should be.

I detest it. Even their tea is appalling.

I get on people's nerves with my pickiness and delusions of expertise when it comes to spirits, but on coffee and tea I break in the opposite direction:

Folger's Instant with lots of milk (no cream, never sugar) anytime during the day when I feel like it and am home. I tend to avoid office coffee pots and don't spend money on fashion coffees unless I have no choice. Coffee at breakfast restaurants is okay as needed to wash down the food.

Same with tea. Economy box of generic black tea from Safeway, sugar cube, milk (a cultural leftover from time spent in England in the 1970s). Nothing fancy ever.

I don't drink either. I have milk with every meal and have been doing it for 74 years. The dentist complains about how hard my teeth are when he has to work on them.

I've always hated coffee, the smell of it makes me kind of queasy, let alone the taste. I remember my black coffee drinking parents telling me that when I got older, I would like it. Wrong! Both my sister and I hate the stuff. Our parents smoked, and we weren't even slightly interested in doing that, either. Another thing that I never "grew up to like" is beer. The hops in it just ruin it. I've had some that was good, but in general, beer is something I don't care for.

I've always liked tea, just black tea. I'm much more of an iced tea drinker than hot. No lemon, just a little sweet. Lipton Pure Leaf, with just a little sugar is perfect, IMHO. And when it's hot, no milk in it. Hell no. I grew up with a bunch of Arab friends and they all put milk in their tea. I just don't get it.

And when I buy some or a restaurant has some,
I'll add some mint to the iced tea.

Iced water usually in the evenings if I don't have

I prefer coffee, and usually have several cups of what is known in Japan as "American" coffee. (The Europeans drink it brewed stronger, but in lesser quantities than we do, as I understand it.)

Black for me. I don't drink it after noon, as it will keep me awake at night if I do. Occasionally have decaf after dinner if eating out.

I like the smell of coffee, and the flavor.

I drink hot tea very rarely. My father loved the stuff, and detested coffee. I do like ice tea.

A big 16 oz. cup of black coffee every morning. Juan Valdez's crystals.
Maybe once a month I treat myself to cream & sugar in the coffee.
Lots of H2O all day long.
Nothing much else any more. Can't even remember the last time
I had beer, wine, or booze.

In the morning, it's hot tea for me. Red Rose is my tea of choice.

Back in my working years, I drank more coffee than most of you could possibly ever imagine... Starbucks before work and whatever swill the company bought for us all day long. Part of the problem is that office coffee was free for the last 18+ years of my employment and for most of that time, my office was the one nearest the coffee room. Given my love for fresh-made coffee, I made more pots of coffee each day than any other dozen people combined.

Only time I drink coffee now is when I am out on the road somewhere and need to be awake and alert... but now it is always Dunkin Donuts or McDonald's coffee... never Starbucks ever again for lots of reasons.

Also for snowplowing. I must have a coffee with me in the truck when I'm out snowplowing! I can't snowplow without a fresh, hot cup of DD coffee within easy reach.

I start my day off with a 1/2 a cup of hot 1/2 and 1.2 with 4 shots of espresso ( a quad breve) made at home. Then usually a cup or two of strong coffee, then the rest of the day in the summer its iced tea or lemon water. I have started changing the lemon water to lime water and like that. In the winter I drink more coffee and sometimes some hot cocoa. Occasionally a cup of hot Earl Grey tea.

I worked for A&P years ago many many years ago but they kept fresh ground fresh brewed coffee in the break room always and I got started drinking coffee there been at it ever since ,I was a kid when I started with them as a after school bag boy it's funny thinking about it I started kissing girls there to huh I haven't been able to break either habit .

I used to drink coffee whenever I would be up in the morning, but since I had open-heart surgery back on August 4th, I am afraid to drink it. I am sure that it wouldn't be an issue, but I just don't want to take a chance with it.

At some point a couple years ago, I stopped drinking sweet tea and went strictly to unsweetened tea.

Now, I drink a good bit of water at home. I used to drink a glass or two of Jack D and water every night, but since the surgery I have zero taste for it...

Scar333 - Fear not the coffee unless your doctor told you to do so.
I had a triple bp four years ago and drink coffee every day - about a quart of it on a slow day. (IIRC they gave it to me in the hospital post-surgery.)
I grind my own beans and brew with a french press. The flavors are amazing and varieties of beans and degree of roast are almost endless.
A semi-strong dark roast with 1/2&1/2 is my cup of tea....

Coffee with French Vanilla creamer at 0 dark 30. Dunkin med double french vanilla regular (C & S) on the way to work. When on vacation coffee with Bailey's in the AM. After work beer or hard cider. Recently turned on to Gossling's ginger beer by my AA brother in law. Has a slight bite but definitely washes away the days saw dust during dinner and non alcoholic.

I have a wicked sweet tooth so most drinks are of the sweetened variety.
