I live only an hour or so drive from the Jersey shore and have never heard of Taylor Ham.

I hope I never have to eat spam again. I had it as a youth. I haven't had it again.
I was in the Army until the early 80's. We had good food. I don't remember being offered Spam.
Taylor Ham is apparently a new product.
Only made since 1856!
The online description sounds a lot like Spam.
So I'm not exactly surprised that it tastes like Spam!

Spam is just plain ol' pure EVIL!!!
Roadkill in a can!!!
I've been poisoned by food before. I was on the road and I hit a Mexican fast food joint. I think it hit me about 4-6 hours after I ate the contaminated food. That was most excruciating. Like Rosanna Rosanna Dana, I thought I was gonna die. The person I was traveling with got nailed about 4 hours after I did, same symptoms. All together I think it lasted about 6 hours and I was totally over it.
I don't think you had a very severe case of food poisoning. I had severe cramps, diarrhea, vomiting and a fever. Literally puts you down like a bad case of the flu.
Here's hoping you never get a bad case of food poisoning.

I got sick just reading the the posts in this thread.
Never tried the stuff and never will.
Just curious, how/why would you get sick thinking about a food you have never even tasted? Are you Sam I am who has never tried - but still doesn't like - green eggs and ham?
Spam really isn't bad. Not gourmet food, but not bad. If you've ever tried spiced ham lunchmeat it is about the same thing, just an unsliced loaf of it - packaged in a can.
EDIT: I went back a read a couple of posts that I missed the before and now I get where you're coming from...
I have two cases of regular spam in my food stash. Stored in a cool dry place. They say it lasts for ever that way.
