Will there be BEARS??!!
It's snowing here in Port Aransas, the Legation lawn has 2 inches and it's comin down thick. First time in 13 years. All the wreckage is covered, there's not a blue tarp roof in sight. It's beautiful.

Snowing in Port A ????????? The world really IS coming to an end!!

Tell you what, the cane farmers just saw their season go to ****. I think a lot of profit is sitting out there in the fields all burnt, frozen and souring :(

That weather system's supposed to get here Saturday night and dump some snow on us.
That's okay, we don't plan on going anywhere 'til Monday anyway.

It's all good now that you have the green light to have a cigar in the basement and with that new griddle you can burn meat in the house too.

It's supposed to get pretty cold down here by tomorrow eve. I got fixings for Sausage Biscuits and Gravy for Sunday morning and a project to do in the utility room.

Plenty of beer. Always.

And there goes what's left of the citrus crop down here. The price of OJ is gonna go threw the roof next year.

Maybe 5"++ here or more on the way. The plow on the jeep is sharpened. Changed the oil for the first time in 15 years. It only plows snow. I hope this is one storm for a while not multiple storms.

I'm tired of the cold already. I have a head cold that's killing me. Tea with honey. Need blackberry brandy.

Ok, remain calm (deep breathes). Snow isn't fatal Caj (usually), but it does require some prep work and forethought. The essentials like toilet paper, pet food and scotch top the list of must haves. Don't sweat the first 16 to 18 inches. Those levels are status quo and all activities still have a green light. Once you hit 36 inches it's time to think about letting your wife walk the dog. She should also shovel the driveway so the pizza guy can get to you easier. It's suggested, but not mandatory to use 4 wheel drive at this point in case she needs to go pick up the pizza. After 4' you won't be called out as a "wuss" for cancelling your weekly bowling league. However, if your local pub is within 5 miles, your dart league will still be a go. Anything over 5 foot you're probably ok to concede that Mother Nature owns you and go sledding. A flask of blackberry brandy is mandatory for any outdoor excursions at this point.
I hope this helps.

We are from Chicago area and my daughter went to college in Memphis. One day during her freshman year they had some snow/ice but by noon it had melted. Some of the local girls came and knocked on her door and asked if she would take them out for pizza, they were still nervous about the weather. They said "you a Yankee, you know how to drive in this."

Sorry. I just have to laugh at southerners talking about snow and cold. I grew up in the north. 10 inches of snow was not really something that you noticed. I remember 52 inches of snow in one day. Had a job delivering pizza when I was younger. Plenty of times that I got to use snowmobile for that. There were plenty of times that me and my friends went camping when it was cold enough for trees to explode. That would be about -60 degrees or so. Don't smile and inhale unless your mouth is covered or your teeth can crack. When you grow up in those conditions you get used to it. Fixing the car outside on a windy day when the temperature is -50 just sucks! A few years ago I was in Atlanta when they got a quarter inch of snow. That was funny.

We had 6" back in '72....

While delivering papers early in the morning I came across a police car slewed sideways in a suburb road and the policeman was nowhere to be found. I had to back down the street and go around the block. I can picture him trudging through the snow wondering if he was going to have to eat himself to stay alive.

While it won't snow here in FL. the sky LOOKS like the way the sky did when I lived in snow country.
No snow but maybe a squall line in a couple hours.
Hope the busy work at the plant is done by then.

I was in high school when it snowed in Miami right around the time Jimmy Carter was inaugurated. Started frozen and wet then fined up into tiny flakes like dandruff. Some accumulation was noted from the Palm Beaches north but the only place it showed here seemed to be in the Afros.

Can't recall the last frost down here and it's been years since I could catch the whiff of snow carried on the wind.
