I never will understand the fascination with NFL ball games. Slow & boring.
In the hour how many minutes is the ball in play? 12-15 minutes. That makes MBL's five minutes of action packed into three hours seem exciting as golf.

As in many things, I'm an outlyer on this.

I don't watch sports for the politics.

I don't look to athletes for political guidance. I don't care about their political views: I'm not outraged by those views nor am I influenced by them.

I see the NFL and football as entertainment, nothing more.

I'm happy to be entertained: I won't avoid an entertainment because of the political views of a few entertainers.

Overall, this is the quintessential tempest in a teapot.

I watched no NFL games last season, only the Super Bowl, and that mainly for the commercials. I had no interest in who won. I watched college football instead (mainly Ohio State). It will be the same for the coming season.

Big question - how long will NFL teams still have "Cheerleaders?" I see them as inevitably becoming extinct fairly quickly due to #MeToo.

Same here, but the commercials for the last two years have been pretty dull, compared to what they used to be. Most have gotten too PC for me.....boring and not funny. We had room full of people for the SB party and most just sat through the commercials without so much as a chuckle.

I quit watching over 30 years ago. Since then it has become the National Felon League, so I have even less incentive to watch.

Last fall this photo went viral. I thought it was pretty great. Some roofers heard the national anthem playing at a nearby high school football field and stopped working and respectfully stood while the national anthem played. I'd rather watch these men pound nails in a roof than an bunch of thugs play football.

I'm going to take a wait and see approach here as one who didn't watch any games last year including the Superbowl. I'll probably tune into pre-season and see how everything goes. This will be the owners last chance to stop this Un-American nonsense and "Make Football Great Again" and if I have to back to a I boycott it will be for good.

Kneeling has nothing to do with disrespecting the flag. The players have First Amendmendment rights and are in a position to call attention to serious grievances. I support whatever they choose to do to make their case. If anything, the owners's bowing to public pressure is more of a reason not to watch, but i like the game and will keep watching nevertheless.

Do not fix on the flag, which is a mere symbol. Pay attention to the underlying issues, which are matters of life and death.

The Flag of the United States is not just a "mere symbol" to me.

Yeah, the "life and death issues" that they are "protesting" and attempting to bring to everyone's "attention" have already been shown to be predicated on a false assumption.

To many the flag isn't a "mere" symbol. Too many have fought and died for the country it represents for it to be a "mere" symbol.

Justify watching any way you want, but other people's reasons for not watching are just as legitimate IMO.

I don't believe that someone protecting a football should be paid more than someone
protecting our country!

Vinny
RVN 67-68
Amen to that!
And they certainly shouldn't be paid a few THOUSAND times more.
They also shouldn't be paid a few thousand times more than the teachers that try to educate our children either.
Or the cop who walks the beat.
Or the fireman who rescues people.
Or much of anybody who does something TRULY worthwhile and meaningful.

Nope. But I didn't tune out over that anyway.
