NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! :O

Save the rest, lest we get another of those heartbreaking Sarah McLaughlin videos with teary-eyed bartenders and endless appeals to save the barrels...

Meanwhile, I'll be downstream gathering "genuine broken barrel" keepsakes. Oh, the huge manatee.

saw news alert. said " OH NO". placed my palms together. wife was sitting next to me, asked me what happened? showed her the picture and the barrels on each other. she just shook her head at me. near a river, hope that the river does not get stilled, contamatated w/ the spill. haven't had a drink in over a 1/2 year. been thinking about opening a bottle, numbered, Wild Turkey, special edition, maybe 25 years that i have had it, have to check the date on it. like potatoe vodka, Grey Goose, Gentleman Jack, Honey Turkey. not my thread, but so your thoughts. thank you for your favorites. have a good weekend. rich

Problem is we don't know what brands those barrels were destined to be part of. The owner, Sazarac, has a lot of products. Any of them might have barrels in that storage.

One day back in the hills there was a tent revival going on. The preacher was really cranked up about the evils of alchohol. He exhorted the assembled multitude, "Gather up all the beer in town and dump it in the river. Then gather up all the wine and dump it in the river. Then gather up all the whiskey and dump it in the river."
Then so as to give the preacher a moment to rest, the organist and choir broke into song "Let Us Gather at the River!"

Barton makes the 1792 line (great premium bourbon) and Very Old Barton (great cheap bourbon).

The word so far is that 9000 barrels are “affected”, although the ones visible appear mostly intact and no large-scale leakage is being observed.

It’s nothing compared to the famous Jim Beam whiskey tornado :)

I thought the report said it was Barton 1792 distillery. this the worst news I have ever heard, the pain and feelings of loss. I wonder if the President will call a national emergency and have a national day of mouring.

Risking thread drift here, but who gives a dang about whether the overspill collection tank was 12 feet deep or 3.6 meters deep in a tragedy such as this. Aren't we kinda over the metric conversion thing?
