Sig P365

I had seen these little compact 9mm's a couple months ago, and found they were in short supply. I had my LGS put my name on the "want" list, and last Friday I got the call they got a few in. I took a look at it and decided I still liked it, just the right size and really fit my hand, 10 round mag with a 12 round available. I was thinking, 10 rounds trumps 6 rounds.

Picked up this morning and brought home for a good cleaning (lots of excess oil). It had been test fired for sure. Then took to the range and proceeded to put about 100 rounds through it. I ran Win White box, my Hornady 147 gr XTP loads, Bayou 147 gr coated, Bayou 124 gr coated, and my Precision Delta 124 gr JHP's. All were 100% functional, and from a 12 yard rest all shot and grouped close to the POA. The 147's shot just a maybe an inch low, the 115's and the 124's all shot to the same POI.

I think I'm going to like this little gun. It is no bigger than a J Frame and almost as small as my LCP2.

I bought mine by accident. I heard the store owner calling people on a wait list. I was like waiting for what? He showed me. I bought one.

Did you examine the primers for drag marks?

I want one of those myself; however, I believe I will wait and shoot the one I will buy my son for a combo birthday/Christmas present.

Around here, the LEO price is $450 and I'm seeing them still at as much as $600...both plus tax.

When they pop up they sell for around $500-$550 here in Texas. 12 round mag is still concealable but they take having a loader to get all 12 in the magazine.....ask me how I know.

I got mine on July 19th by being at the right place, right time. Was in a LGS and pawn (AZ Firearms and Collectibles Tempe, AZ) on July 17th.

I thought I would pick up a 365 at some point - maybe Jan/Feb 2019.
Was looking at a Glock 26 for kicks. Asked the salesman if they had sold any P365's. He said they had 2 in the back that he couldn't sell yet (based on pawnshop rules in AZ - ?). I asked if I could take a look. One was built in March. One was built May 15, 2018; looked to have never been fired (and that's what the salesman said as well) - still w/ factory grease; had warranty card and all paperwork, etc - even the orange piece for ejection port/barrel. It was labeled "like new" and priced at $499. I put $100 down and he said he would be able to sell it on 7/19. I came back that day , paid it off, and walked out with a used/"like new" P365.

Those are the only two I have seen in 4 LGS in AZ. One has one for display only and one rental (C2 Tactical). Another shop (Healy Arms - Tempe, AZ) said they get about 2 at a time and they sell immediately. Sportsman's Warehouse in Mesa,Az says the same thing.

After buying it I put 1000 rounds of various cheap and quality ammo thru it. I had enough failures to extract that I was not confident to use it for EDC. I ended up contacting Sig and sending it in. Got it back last week - 9/13. Its had 400+ rounds through it after work done by Sig - including the 90 rounds Sig tested it with. All flawless function since I got it back. Sig took care of my Sig/me.

I'm very happy with it - shoots well; like the ergonomics; incredible capacity esp w/ the 12 rounder (same size as my Glock 43 w Pearse +1 extension.)

I did notice a very slight drag mark on the primer indents. Is this a sign of unlocking a little early? It is just a slight elongation of the primer dent.

I also discovered a Shield holster will fit it very well, a trifle lose, but snug enough when on the belt you could turn a somersault and not lose it. (You could not me).

I bought one in Mid March and liked it so much I did something I have never done before, I bought a second one just because.
I stopped counting after 3000 rounds and it has been my daily carry for months.
I cringe when I hear "primer marks". I have a few mouse guns and everyone of them leaves an elongated swipe on the primer. I have found no down side to primer swipes with any of my guns.

As a RSO I can't tell you how many people have fired my gun and immediately picked one up.
To anybody looking for a small high capacity semi auto, test drive one of these wonders. Bring your billfold.

I have over 1,000 rounds through mine. The only (one) malfunction was shooter induced. My thumb pushed up on the slide lock during recoil. Primer drag marks are a non-issue IMHO, although I stay away from steel-cased ammo. I would think that a lot of steel cased ammo "might" put extra stress on the firing pin, if the firing pin dragged all the way to the edge of the primer pocket. My Sig P 365 has replaced my Kahr CM9 for EDC. I carry mine in a Vedder pocket holster. I do miss my Crimson Trace laser. I may get one, down the line, but then I'll need a new pocket holster.

The P365 is the 2nd best selling handgun at the LGS I work part-time in. It is exceeded in sales only by the Ruger EC9.

The terms "innovative" and "game changer" are overused in the gun world. And usually applied to guns which are neither. The 365 is both truly innovative and if sales and public interest are any indication, a game changer.

We sell every one we can get our hands on. And our customers tell us they love the gun. No reported issues either. Sig hit a home run with this model. Regards 18DAI

Had that been the case, I'd have bought theirs (instead of buying two Sigs).

Her thoughts on primer wipe got me thinking. I suspect that striker fired guns are more prone to this than hammer fired pistols with inertial firing pins. Here's my theory.

In a striker fired gun the firing pin is not withdrawn until the action cycles. If the striker is still protruding when the case hits the ejector, you get primer wipe.

With hammer fired guns the return spring on the inertial firing pin will tend to withdraw the firing pin before the case gets to the ejector, so no primer wipe.

I finally got to handle one in a gun store yesterday. It is a remarkably small package for 10 rounds of 9mm. It fit my hand pretty well like my Kahr CW9, but at $599+taxes...

Still not sure I could carry a gun with that short a trigger and no trigger dingus.
