Trying to walk away...625-4 3" I walked back to it **photos in post #25**

Screaming deal. I love my 5" 625-4, and if I ever find a 3" at that price my wife will be wondering why the checking account is so low all of a sudden!

The COVID-19 is really affecting people everywhere!
Two forum members in two days asking this group if they should buy a gun.
First the Smith bug and now this! I need a to visit my LGS. What you think?

Here she is. I was wrong about the price, I got it mixed up with the 3 other ones I looked at but whatever I bought it anyway. $1199 was the price. Box, moon clips, paperwork & combats.

Well well well, I called just now, and they are holding it for me. I'm going to go into work for about an hour, then I'll go pick it up.

Atta'boy! You made me nervous there for a bit. I see so many revolvers for sale with their original combats missing & replaced with, anything. Glad you got to snag the gun stocks intact. I'd love to have a set for my 625 3", but I'm not spending half again what I bought it for just to get them.

Congratulations!

I might send in for a letter. I love learning the history of them. Who knows, maybe it left the mothership with the combats. The extra price didn't bother me.

I looked at a near mint condition S&W 32 Mag revolver yesterday & a very very nice nickeled Model 13 w/box. Maybe the M13 was $799. The 32 Mag was $1199 as I remember that because it's not something I'm into.

Last time I checked the range was closed. I've gone into the mountains the last two weekends to shoot.

I was wrong about being exactly like the photo in the book. Mine has the old cylinder release & the photo in the SCSW has the new style

This revolver has me thinking about getting a holster for it to CC. I might think about this for a while.

Groo here
Shot some classes with mine.
You get so use to the moon clips that you stop looking at rimed
case guns.[ just got a Ruger Gp100 3in WC in 10mm!!!]
Just get a mooner / demooner tool and you will be set.
Ps Also go to Ranch Products for moon clips , 50 to 100at a time.
Rp also has a 2 round 1/3 moon clip.
Works great for CCW as the 2 rounds lay flat in pocket or pouch...

I have approx 200 full moon clips & also have the tool to fill them. I'll look into the 2 round versions though. That sounds handy

The 625 Model of 1989 (and earlier Model of 1988) didn't come with combat stocks. I believe the 625-4's came with Pachmayr "Gripper" rubber stocks.

Be careful, they tend to multiply. ;)

I read about them coming with rubber. There is no rubber in the box which is fine with me. I'll report on holster ideas & shooting results.

Congrats

It's still a very good gun at a good price. I've had mine for a month and can't wait for the ranges to reopen. For holsters, you can look up genetic N-frame holsters for a 3" barrel. There are very few specifically made for a 3" 625. I bought an Azula. Not lined, but fits well and is snug to my body.

Why have you not already bought it?? (i'm guessing your gun fund was spent on T.P.). As LEO' stated, the grips alone are worth $300.

This -3 cost me over $800. No Combats came with it...no box...and it took over 2 years to find one at a doable price.

Those are the best looking grips on a 3 incher that I've ever seen. Mine has aftermarket wood RB grips (not bad but...) those shown are the best. Looks like hand waxed... Since mine had the 'Model of 1989' buffered off I'm thinking about having it bead blasted (satin finish) and something like those stocks. Kind of a CCW fashion statement for us geezers.

And folks, Clark custom guns told me that the 625 can easily take .45 Supers (and mine has!) Just a thought... incase you need some real horse power.
