Anyone CCW a 6906 or Other Non-M&P Semi? Any 45acp Models??

Not a CCW yet, but picked up a sweet 3913 NL model for that intent. Been taking it to the range to get good before I go through the licensing stuff for CCW. It'll be my edc. I'm a stick framed guy, so I decided single stack would be easier to conceal. I was really leaning toward a 5903 before I found the NL.

This is the day I bought it. Had it stuffed in the catch all drawer in the dresser.

That one looks like it has some sort of "melt" treatment to it??

A melt is a rounding off of all the sharp edges of a pistol. Until the last decade or so, usually done by gunsmiths on custom pistols.

In the case of the 3913, which s&w produced after stealin........borrowing, heavily, from the designs of Paris Theodore - ASP pistol and Charlie Kelsey's custom Devel guns, both of which had extensive customizing and both of which had "melts" done.

The 3913/3914 NL both had slight melts, removing most of the sharp edges on the slide and frame. From the factory. Hope this helps. Regards 18DAI

Looks good, but clean that Dirty Girl!

Simple Green or dish soap and a toothbrush
will take off all that brown gunk.

Already done. I did that earlier this week. I used isopropyl alcohol and q tips. Afterwards, she got Tetra gun grease on all sliding parts and Rem oil on tiny stuff.

Not a big deal either way for me. I'm already eyeing some KSD orthopedic grips for it. I need a bit more length on the backstrap due to very long fingers. My index easily overreaches the trigger if I'm not careful.

Hogue wood grips add some girth in the backstrap also.

A non-M&P .45 I carried for a few years in uniform, and on and off CCW in the years since, is my old CQB. In a 3rd. Gen 9MM CCW pistol, I preferred the single stack 3913, also carried on and off for years.

Haven't posted in a LONG time but this made me come over again. I used to have a 5906 type except it had an aluminum frame, can't remember the numbers now. It shot pretty well but got away years ago. I still have a 645 in 95% plus condition in original box/etc. that's retired to the collectors section of the safe. I also have a 1006 with the hooded rear sights that's really fun to shoot. Never carried either because of their size but very nice pistols I'm glad I kept. M&P9 2.0 compact is the Smith of choice these days.

On my trips to the free state of ID I carry my 3954 in an UrbanCarry LeatherLock (kydex-like retention) IWB. ID is now constitutional carry even for non-residents.
Refinished in Birdsong Black T and their FDE. Hogue grips and will eventually replace the gaudy chrome screws. Trijicon sights. Great gun.
For four legged predators standard carry is a Mod. 58 with Buffalo Bore Hard Cast.

Although I have and did carry S/W like my 637 lately I carry either my Ruger LCP or my LC-380 being smaller and lighter. Realy don't carry a lot , everyone else here in E.Ky. are carrying.....

Even though I keep my CCW permit up to date, Ky. has the permitless carry law but like the permit when traveling and also serves as my Backgroung check.

Well it seems I've come to favor the 4506 over all the others.

This one I've modded to suit my taste with a NOS spurless hammer & 645 trigger, Trijicon SA02 sight set, and some metal texturing to enhance grip. Still have a couple more things I want to do to it... A set of Nills grips and a spring loaded decock body are coming soon. However in its current state...'Tis by far my favorite carry sidearm.

I like the 3913/3914 variations. Usually carry in a Strong lined pancake style or IWB kydex, both at 4 o'clock. M&P9 2.0 also wedged between console and passenger seat when mobile.
