Saga of the missing Daisy! CHAPTER 3 & 4 - the final chapter

CHAPTER 3
Those dang border collies can be very destructive when they’re bored, it’s a trait of the breed.

Well, I don't like to call it "destructive." It's just that their minds are so active that if you aren't keeping them occupied, they can find alternative ways to keep themselves entertained.:D

Also, if border collies are going for a thousand dollars a pop, the total net worth of our little ranching community must be humongous!!:p

So glad she's home.

Based on what I have observed about the forum members feelings towards their animals, you are more forgiving than most on this forum. Most of us would have been hard pressed not to instilled some form of southern justice. Perhaps instead of a simple fine for their crimes, the court perhaps has a community service program, maybe even at the local Humane Society or animal shelter.
I am constantly impressed with how many animal lovers are on this forum and it speaks volumes about the quality of people here.
So glad this had a happy outcome.

Randy—make sure they are charged with A.C.A. § 5-39-203. Criminal trespass, along with theft.

It takes a special kind of stupid to go out in the country, driving a Prius, and steal a deputy sheriff’s dog!

These people have to be former Cajunlawyer clients that moved up here from New Orleans after the hurricane. Gary, you know any Prius driving morons? (I guess that could be deemed a rhetorical question).

What’s all the more troubling about this is here in AR we have the four seasons—frequently in ONE DAY. I had my ground faucets freeze solid last week. Today I drove my convertible to work. We have all the windows open at home.

The point is people this stupid don’t realize that on a 65 degree day a car interior in the sun is 99 degrees in 30 minutes. It is a miracle that a high-drive dog like that, freaking out and tearing up a car interior, did not have a heat stroke locked in a vehicle.

Even good people sometimes forget how hot it can get in a closed car in the sun. This story has a miracle end.

You are absolutely right, they have to be kept occupied or they'll entertain themselves.

As for the thousand dollar dogs, I checked out a couple of those FB sites about border collies and found that the folks paying a thousand dollars for them are mostly city folk who drive Toyota Prius's. :)

If someone stole either of my girls , pure bred Aussies , there would be he** to pay . I guess there is something worse than a dog thief , I just don't know what that is . Glad to hear you got her back . Now if you were thinking you would have been like most in America and pulled out your cell phone and videoed that whole scene . Then we could all have joined in the fun .

My heart was in my throat until you found Daisy.. Losing a pooch like that would be heart breaking..

I've lost lots of dogs to old age and infirmities, but I knew it was coming.
Thanks for the story. My day just got brighter knowing Daisy is safe at home..

EL-T...Excellent narrative and a happy ending...Daisy is is great looking Pup.

What you might want to do,since She’s a friendly Dog, is get her Micro- chipped @ the Vet...If She turns up missing again, You have an excellent chance of getting Her back.

If I was in the situation you described, I would have had a Unit conduct a traffic stop and arrest the Subjects for Grand theft...Never know what might turn up during the Inventory search and the intent was there to permanently deprive you of your Dog....Any reasonable and prudent person would have notified Animal Control or LE that they found a pure bred ,well cared for Dog...Not ride it around and leave it unattended in a vehicle for several hours.

My Pup’s Dad was a Sch.111, and the Mother was Czech Border Patrol...Both Imports....He was Obedience trained, could Track and was tops in Personal Protection.

Stay Safe and Happy Holidays.
