Who Conceal Carries N-Frame S&W Revolvers?

Well, I'm a sort of big bulky person (5'10'' 225#s then) and I carried a 29 4'', Pac rubbers for about a month in a Bianchi belt holster strong side and good belt. This was mid 1970s and I just wanted to try a big gun. Had no problem concealing it, which in NYS you had better not be showing. (enough said there)

It did tend to get in the way a little and it was making my back hurt. Like said only did it to see what was what and went back to my normal carry gun of that era a Model 60 2". Back pain soon went away.

I must say that in my Country concealed carry really means concealed. If your gun is reported as showing you will loose your permit.

Are you allowed to open carry? Just wondering.

My only N Frame is a 6" M629. I don't even consider carrying it except in the case it came in to the range, etc.
For IWB, which I don't do, I take it for granted you need to go up one size or so beltline? I wear size 38, and I still have a couple pants size 40, but even then, it was just too uncomfortable. Wrong holsters, I'm sure, even though made for the guns.
Dirty Harry, carrying that 29 under his sportcoat in San Francisco made me sweat just thinking about it.

I carry a 325 in a pancake outboard. If someone in this state reported someone else for carrying a gun, they would get told to mind their own business. Now they don't even need a permit that anyone can take away, concealed, printing or wide open.

Different Countries/States different rules. Here a concealed carry permit isn't an easy thing to obtain. Very few are granted one. Loose a gun, let it be stolen, get caught DUI, flash the gun without good reason, get reported to the police that your gun is showing up(considered a menace) and the police will let you know that it is pointless to apply for a renewal, because you will not get it.

And of course. Open carry outside of shooting sports or during the act of hunting(valid for rifles and shotguns only, handgun hunting is verboten) in a recognized hunting area is a fast tickect to visit the local jail and get to meet a judge.:D

Wonder no more read my previous post.:D

And to own a gun, any kind of gun, you will need the respective permit according to the use intended for the gun.

Wich can be:

Self protection (read concealed carry permit)

Competition

Hunting

Collecting

Meaning. I have 4 gun permits.

The exceptions are:
Guns manufactured before January 1900.
Guns in calibers considered "obsolete" (there is a list of them that can be updated). Included in the obsolete calibers are those that only are manufactured in very limited runs and not produced currently. Ie .455 Eley that Fiocchi produces once in a blue moon.

You can own those guns without a permit. You cannot shoot them though, unless yo have a collector permit.

Clear as mud.:D

Edit. I have 5 N frames.

Trust me I realize just how great we have where I live. It is a huge state with a small population of mostly real good people that respect each other, each others rights and ways. Harder and harder to find places like this in the world.

BTW 6'3" and around 300#

Was in my fave gunshop about a year ago and a guy came in asking for magazines for his Desert Eagle 50, he then lifted his shirt showing his concealed carry DE 50. And he was sort a small framed to boot.

Carry the PC 627 Snub and 3" 629 IWB around 2 o'clock. Would like a 327 Pug nose too. No issues carrying an N frame. I carried a 4" 686 IWB when I first started.

I also carried a 4" M28 in a Roy Baker Pancake. It concealed well under the right clothes and carried comfortably at about 4 o'clock on a good leather belt. I used a shoulder rig from time to time, but the pancake worked just fine.

I run with a m39 on the right hip iwb all day no problem. No printing and comfortable inside the car or out. tried 2in revolver but it jumped out like popcorn. Too much FRONTAGE. Newbie here loving this forum LTC ARMOR

I lived in Casper, Wyoming for ten years. I LOVED it!!! I worked out at the Amoco Oil Refinery. Unfortunately, I saw that they were going to shut it down (I had seen it before as my father worked for Amoco Pipeline) so I transferred back to Texas City, Texas where I had seniority. The guys there did not believe me but a year later they shut the Casper Refinery down. The guys I knew that transferred to Texas City then when they saw me asked how I knew? I told them a combination of Sixth Sense and scene it before.

I miss the Rocky Mountains, hearing the Bull Elk Bugle in the fall and the quaking aspen!!!

Wyoming has the lowest population of all the states in the USA which suited me just fine! Great hunting and fishing with not a lot of people. Paradise except it is hard to find a good job.
