I've been trying to buy this gun for well over a month. A friend told me about it, but the seller was difficult to hook up with. I all but gave up, when he called and asked if I could meet him today.

I've got a fair amount of .32 H&R Mag, .32 S&W Long and .32 S&W in my basement. This one I'll shoot!

:D

.327 alternative

If you send it to HAMILTON BOWEN, HAVE HIM CUT THE CYLINDER TO .327 MAGNUM. There will be no loss of accuracy with the shorter cartridges, but this frame makes the perfect handgun for that cartridge. Love mine. Bullseye accuracy with .32Long is unaffected...I handload, but Fiocchi makes some accurate WADCUTTER loads.

Wish I could find some .32 H&R Magnum! I've got a Ruger Bisley Single-Seven in .327 magnum that so far I've only shot exclusively with .32 Long wadcutters. I want to try something with more oomph, but don't see any need for the .327 Federal; if I need something with more power, I believe I'd reach for a .357.

That model 16 looks perfect to me.

A month?! :D You throw out the term "finally!" and you are talking about 30-31 days?!

Haha great grab. I'll trade you some Pachmayrs for them that glossy wood stocks ya got. ;)

A lot can go wrong in a month. Minutes can make the difference between ownership and future regret! You ever spotted a nice gun at a show, came back a short while later and found it was sold?

Quick story...
I was working the indoor range at our club and saw an ad on the bulletin board listing a gun collection for sale. It included some desirable Winchesters and Colts. Another range officer (Joe) came over and looked at the same ad. I saw him write down the phone number.

It was snowing like crazy and the seller was about 30 miles away, but I called him from my car and headed right over. It was a horrible drive, but I ended up buying a few guns and got home safely. At our next range session, Joe mentioned that he went to look at the collection after the storm cleared, but the good stuff was already gone! I just smiled... ;)

Hey, I much prefer that approach to "I've ordered X" "X is on the way" "X is at my dealer" "Picked up X will post pictures later" "Here X is, and even though I haven't shot it yet it's obviously the best gun ever made". :)

I can appreciate that type of poster's enthusiasm and desire to share with like-minded folks, I just prefer S&WChad's approach.

With the full under lug barrel, the 4" K frame provides good balance while shooting as well as convenient carry in a holster. My stainless copy of your gun (custom built by Andy Horvath) is chambered in 327 FM, but I must admit it gets a lot of shooting with the 32 S&W Long. As somebody has already said, recoil, such as it is, feels more like 22 level.

As for having your cylinder rechambered to 327 by Hamilton Bowen, he has announced that he will no longer work on Smiths, limiting himself to Rugers only, but several other gunsmiths such as Andy Horvath will do the job for you, should you decide that is what you want.

A hearty congrats!! A 16-4 is difficult enough on it's own to find, but a 4" bbl version, wow!!

I have two 16-4's with 6" barrels, I had one reamed out to .327 Fed Mag, I highly recommend it. I also like the idea of having a K-22 cylinder reamed to .327 Fed Mag and fitted to be able to keep the original cylinder intact.

But since I had two, and they are not going to be resold while I'm still above ground, I went the less expensive route of having the one done.
