Sardines in mustard sauce

I make a salad with lettuce, brocolli, avacado, cucumber and tomato.
Dress it with Paul Newman's ranch. Mix in a tin of sardines in oil, but I
drain most of the oil off. The whole mess is ready for lunch.
I have also used smoked oysters in the salad instead of sardines.
Salmon, chicken and tuna of course are other options. I've even
been known to dice up a couple of hard boiled eggs and/or cheese
and mix it into the whole mess.

I prefer the ones in tomato sauce over mustard if in a sauce.........

If in oil, I will add them to bread with some mayo & lettuce for a snack or lunch.

The jar of herring in white cream sauce and chopped white onions is my favorite canned fish treat. Eating the bay leaf is optonial.

I like them just about any way they make them, especially when I'm in a hurry or want something to eat while hunting or fishing. Yesterday I picked up a can of "Searam" brand sardines. They came from Ecuador in a one pound can packed in tomato sauce and chili peppers. I've never seen this before and wanted to try them, probably before the week is over.

If you remember, Texas Star said his favorite snack was a packet of salmon mixed with chopped dill pickle and Dijon mustard spread on Triscuits or Club crackers.

Could never get more than one sardine down the hatch. I'd have to be lost for 30 days at sea before I'd open a can.

An older friend of mine popped open a can of mustard sardine unpleasantness to eat while we were out shooting several years ago.
The look and smell of them would have made Bear Grylls toss.
