Sardines in mustard sauce

I really like the Sardines in mustard, it has to be yellow mustard though. When I was younger( 50 years or more ago) my favorite brand was Neptune. Long gone now but Beach Cliff isn't bad and King Oscar is a good choice.
 
I've always eaten sardines in the oil . Never tried the mustard variety . Maybe someday .
 
Kippered Herring Snack

I picked up the Kipper Snacks (Crown Prince brand) and added
them to my salad for lunch today. I like them. Thanks for the
suggestion CAJUNLAWYER.

Rusty - I had to get the needle nose pliers out to get this can
open when the tab broke off.

I love all kinds of canned fish. They say to avoid anything from China because they have no health restrictions. Their sardines could have come from a sewer outlet.
THAT'S why they pack them on mustard. Hides the taste and kills the fecal bacteria that may still be alive after the canning process. A couple of drops of Tabasco sauce on them is extra added insurance ;)
 
Loves me some mjustard sauce sardines-FOr a kick add some siracha to them.
But my favorite is Kippered herring snacks with tabasco siracha sauce on them. Put them on a saltine with a slice of dill pickle and you've got hors d'oerves fit for the queen

Your kidding, right?
 
I don't have much experience with sardines. The Northern European snack fish is herring.

I buy the kippered stuff in bulk, usually on Amazon. The Polar brand actually comes from Germany.

Come to think of it, this might be an opportunity to introduce y'all to another German "fast food" classic: the "Fischbrötchen" or fish roll. Especially near the North Sea coast, but also further inland, it's as commonly encountered as a hot dog would be here.

A herring (in various forms, fresh, pickled, marinaded etc.) and onions on a hard roll, preferably with a beer.

I used to eat a lot of smoked kippers working as a surveyor. Never cared much for sardines but I've eaten them in the past. My dad loved sardines and always had a few cans around with saltines for lunch. I buy a jar of pickled herring from Costco a few times a year. Smelt are easy to catch on the beaches around here but I'm not a fan. The Scandahovians around here fry them up for breakfast.

Might dig a few razor clams on the WA coast next week as we'll be over there for a few days. For sure get myself some fresh razor clam linguine. Season opens on Sunday. It's a big draw.

How about "Kitty Roca"...A buddies dog would not leave the litter box alone. I've seen a dog eat horse turds with gusto, savoring each one til he was full I guess.

A dog will eat almost anything. If they won't eat it they'll roll in it. I used to have a brain dead Irish Setter that would roll in rotting salmon. Dead maybe a week in the summer sun. You cant wash that smell off.

Then I had a brain dead Springer Spaniel that actually ate a rotten sea gull. He couldn't keep it down for more than a minute but he ate it.

I'm a dog guy. ;)
